Slammed the brakes.
Automobile magazine's 4X4 buyers guide review said the Brakes were not great on the new F150, based on a stopping distance test. They also trashed the acceleration along with the brakes of the F150, so, I believe they like the Nissan. The 150 is a bigger/heavier truck. Did anyone read this and what do you think?
I think the truck gets better with age. I have never had problems or complaints with the brakes. I felt that it was a little sluggish off the line when I purchased it. It feels very strong now. It has a lot of pull from the bottom. I have NO complaints with the get up and go of this truck now. I have about 8700 miles on mine and it just keeps getting better.
I have 500 miles on mine and it has had more than adequate acceleration from mile 1. The brakes have exceeded any expectations I had as well. I spent 3 hours in the truck today and love it more every mile I drive.
Traditional Ford truck brakes, they are for people that use it as a truck. From the Motor Trend Truck of the year article " Although we couldn't verify the claim, Ford says engineers even improved braking performance on loose surfaces such as gravel by 13%. Combined with standard ABS and electronic brake-force distribution, our tester astonished us by stopping one foot shorter with a 900-pound load than when its bed was empty. No other truck in this years field could match that feat."
Well, I don't know about magazine articles, but my seat-of-the-pants tells me the brakes on this 150 are wonderful. I mostly ride high performance motorcycles with great brakes. I also own a sportycar (Miata). Though I'm not an expert and this isn't a scientific measurement, I think I can tell good brakes from not-so-good, and I've gotta say one of the first comments out of my mouth while I was test driving this Screw was, Wow, Excellent Brakes!! Even taking out of consideration that this thing is huge and heavy, these brakes drag this truck down to a stop fast and in good posture.
Up here in michigan we've been hit with some snow, and the truck handles beautifully. Beyond the 4X4/LSD tracking like it's on rails, the braking in the snow/ice is the best i've ever driven.

I think the problem is most magazines are testing the new F-150 before it has a chance to break in so braking and acceleration aren't up to full strength yet(particularly the motor)

I really wonder about that article. I've read about 10 articles reviewing the new F150, and that's the only article that's given the F-150's brakes a shot. 9 of the 10 magazines I read said that it had great breaks. Look at moter trend's article and it talks about how great the brakes are.
I've driven the new 150 many times and I've liked the brakes a lot. THey're a whole lot better than my 97 and the 03 silverado's. Haven't driven the 04 Dodge or the 04 Titan, so I can't compare. But the new brakes are very very good. Can't imagine that the Titan's are much better.

. Those people at Automobile magazine are too busy rating Ferrari's, Lamb's, and BMWs to be reliable to rate a truck.

Although I have not put a load in my new 04 truck yet the brakes feel good at the pedal, the ABS works and tracks well on the ice/snow, and seem to be responsive. I guess I was surprised by these review comments primarily based on the 60-0 test. I am glad to hear others feel the brakes are just fine also.
