The point of my question in a round-a-bout way was to point out that mine DOES leak to the point where I, as well as the interior of the vehicle, gets wet. Neither of my parent's vehicles (F-350 SD King Ranch & Explorer SportTrak) with factory moonroofs do this so I wouldn't expect mine to either.

Sorry for having to ask but can you explain, how the "draining" is supposed to work when the shade is full of water. I understand the concept itself but I'm not sure how it applies to the shade since it tilts forward, has a rim/lip all around and isn't affixed to anything to drain out. The cloth that folds up and over the lip and gets soaked can't really drain, but rather must air dry.

Granted I could close the shade when I go through the wash although there is no reference to that in the moonroof section (pages 65 & 66) of the manual. It keeps me dry but more water pools up in the shade.

What am I missing? Why don't the other Fords I ride in get this wet?

As you know there is obviously a problem with yours. Of course the shade and inside should be dry.. Either the seal is bad and or the drains are clogged.

Mine leaks going through the car wash. Just a few drops. I doubt that I will make a warranty issue out of it unless it leaks in heavy rain.
