trim problem...

The small gas cap door on my 150 has lost it's tension and now won't stay closed...any ideas on how this little sucker works...can I fix it myself?

In a related note...does everyone elses filler neck look as if its missing the little metal "flap" that covers the neck hole when the nozzle is removed?

There is no flap. It's not on Dodge Rams either, so it's not just an F-150 thing.

I knew when I first saw the plastic gas tank door, back in August, that there was going to be an issue.

Mine broke in the same way. Dealer tells me its warentee work, but they need to hold the truck a day to get it done in their body shop. Looks like it's held on with three screws to me, not sure why it should take more then 5 minutes to replace it.

I found if I swivel the tie that holds the gas cap to the truck, it can be used to keep the door closed. (tie is tied to the door). This is a temporary solution until I can find a day to hand over my truck.
