Why so soon? 2000 miles? isn't the recommended change at 3000?

hell, i will change my oil after 100 miles the first time. then 1000miles, then normal intervals after that. oil is cheap, and clean oil is the best oil

I've done two oil changes on my Screw, the second one just yesterday. The manual says the capacity is 7 qts, so I put in 7 qts exactly, and the dipstick shows the oil level to be several millimeters below the top line, so it probably could take another half quart or so.

FWIW my 5.4 engine has almost 8k miles on it, and uses zero oil.

I'm using the Motorcraft 5W20 oil and a stock 820S filter, both of which I get at Autozone.

Large oil sumps, e.g., the 5.4's 7 quarts=improved engine cooling and longer oil life. Racing engines carry 20 or more quarts. My neighbor's wimpy V-6 Dodge has a 4 qt. capacity.

I also read that it takes 7 quarts. I had mine changed at 300 miles. The sooner the better the first time. It makes sense that more oil is better for the engine except maybe warming it up in the winter months.

if it calls for 7qts, and the level on the dipstick isnt all the way to the top line, i would leave it there. That top line is marked MAX, instead of FULL, im pretty sure. If that is the case, then what ford means is definately dont go over the top line. (because the crankshaft can actually start slapping oil in the pan, causing vibrations and less fuel mileage) So what im saying is that if you put the specified amount of oil in, and its anywhere between the MIN and MAX marks, you're good to go.

If over filled the pcv system does not work correctly, A little tip down forget to drain the old oil first...lol

I've seen people over fill them by as much as 3-4 quarts to the point where it will feel like its misfiring due to the fact that the pistons can't come all the way down.

It was in between min and max with 7qts, but very close to min, so the tech decided to add another 1/2 quart. I had always heard too much oil was bad so I asked him if he was sure it needed and he said yes. I had the oil changed in my 99 f-150 one time and the idiot only put 5 quarts in it. I checked it three days later and it would not show on the dipstick. When I went and questioned him, he admitted the screw up. Guess it's best to do it yourself
