I am curious if anybody here has had Ford install an upgraded or "aftermarket" alarm on their F150's? Do they offer any good alarms? When I purchased my '02 Mustang GT 'Vert in late '01 they offered a KARR alarm system, which I was told by a few people is a POS. Didn't get it.

I normally purchase higher end alarms for my cars/trucks..ie Clifford Intelligards or Alpine systems. A friend of mine worked at a high end car audio/alarm shop and I got the them at cost and installed for a very reasonable fee. He does not work there anymore



Should I have Ford install an alarm system for me (if available) or should I spend the money elsewhere?

If installed by Ford, is it covered under the manufactures warranty??

I really have no experiance with this, so take my oppinion lightly on this one... I'm mostly responding to this one to see what others have to say.. but my oppinon would be to go ahead and have a car audio place install a clifford or something similar... if your friend still lives near you see if you can pay him in beer and pizza, and buy the alarm on the internet somewhere... you could come out same amount of $ as you use too...

 

had ford install my after market alarm,, around 300,, says prestige on the alarm key control,, my dealer said all after market items i had the dealer install would be covered under my 7 year extended warranty i have on the truck,, i like the alarm,, works good and not too sensitive that passing trucks set it off like other alarms,,good luck,,jop
