Go have a look at the cheap interior of a Silverado or Sierra and you will appreciate just how good the woodgrain looks.

I sure it's plastic. If you hate it that much and don't want to spend the money for the FX material. Take it off and paint the damn thing.

So whats the story here guys? I'm an FX4 owner, so I can't check it on mine, but Motor Trend says its real wood.....

The interiors are truly impressive. Dashes have accents on the center stack and vertical flourishes along the HVAC vents on each edge--charcoal in XL and STX, charcoal with chrome vent rings on XLT, "warm steel" chromed rings and fake carbon fiber in the FX4, and chrome and real wood in the Lariat

Well....they're definitely wrong on that one!....Makes you wonder if they REALLY checked the vehicle out or are just following everyone else's great "reviews".

Well, Motor Trend usually doesn't screw up something as black and white as this...

Has anybody actually checked to make sure the woodgrain trim panels aren't a real wood veneer?

they also call those accents "chrome" and "chromed." they are just shiny plastic. i don't think that even qualifies as chromed and it is certainly not real chrome. way to MT. i would rather have it all be gray and black plastic. if it ain't real wood, don't try to imitate. that is just cheap and pathetic. i live the interior of my 04 F-150, but there are few things i'd change.

A sweet mod would be to make molds of the OEM interior trim and then make your own real carbon fiber pieces.

The wood in the wife's bimmer is not
real wood. I repeat it is not real wood.
I knew this before I bought it. I did not
want real wood because it dries out,
breaks, chips, and it is hard to get a uniform
color throughout the vehicle. The fake is also
a lot easier to clean with the 2 year old slobbering
all over it. I'm not trying to convince anyone.
Just how I feel.

I love my lariat but hate the wood grain trim in it too. Maybe a possibly solution would be to hit up a salvage yard for other trim pieces?
