You know, this is the point that I've tried to make throughout threads like this since the HEMI was introduced. Make no mistake when looking at TV and print advertising, Ford is advertising trucks while Dodge is trying to sell a motor. I would be totally ashamed of myself if I turned off my mind and let advertising hype alone guide my purchase decisions. Make no mistake, the Dodge HEMI is a decent truck, but after driving one and comparing it to my SuperCrew, it just doesn't fair very well.

let's not forget some other examples of Chrysler marketing hype...

The Shelby Turismo
the Daytona IROC

Yeah. they have a track record of taking names with equity and putting them on half-a$$ed vehicles.

As far as Dodge being junk, well yes it does have a poor reliability track record.

The Titan is as yet unproven in long-term quality. We will have to wait and see. The F150 is a much nicer truck than the Nissan. Of course, most of the "nicer" things are subjective.

But when one spends that much money on a vehicle they can be a subjective as they want.

I still would pick an F150 over a Titan any day of the week. Followed by Chev/GMC and then Tundra. I just cant get over that ugly front end on the Titan and I don't want to have to spend money on supplementary warranty that would be needed for Dodge ownership.

But Ford is first for me every time.

Jackme,
Why would I want to own an 2004 F-150 to come to this site? I have a better truck- the 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer !

Go somewhere with your stripped down XLT regular cab. Besides, living in NY, you won't have it long before somebody steals it from you!
Ha-hahahahaha.....

Okay Little Hersey Squirt...I'm impressed with your EDDIE BAUER Expedition. I have a pair of EDDIE BAUER underwear and there is a small tag attached stating made in Bangladesh. I wonder if it's the same sweat shop that made your EDDIE BAUER seats. Step up to the plate and buy a real truck.

Hersey Squirt? Ah-hahaha. That was good, a snappy come back. I didn't expect that from you. You spelled it wrong, dummy- but I know what you meant.

Eddie Bauer underwear! Sweatshop... Another good one. Man, you must've studied...

I think it (Eddie Bauer) is a lame name too; but so is "Lariat". Then again, you like being tied up with rope don't you? It would be easier to find those than handuffs, wouldn't it...?

About having a real truck- puhleeze. I have one Jack MeHoff. A 2001 F-150 SuperCrew. They don't get much more "real" than that. BTW, since you have a "real" truck now- what were you driving before the 04 came out? A Tonka? Quit sniffing so much glue boy.

Post some pics, let us see what it is you're bragging about.
I bet it's so cheap, you have an 8-track player, and manually inflatable airbags in the steering wheel. The seats are probably those $10.00 folding chairs from Wal-Mart.

But hey, at least you got a 2004!!

Again, Little Skid Mark go buy your TITANIC you know you want one. Of course the EDDIE BAUER edition isn't out yet, they're still negotiating a deal with China for eel skin pleather seats.

Hey! Let's not knock Lariats, now.
Bottom line is, Ford won, Nissan lost, Nissan is not an innovator, Nissan did not build a better truck than Ford. Size and power does not sell trucks. Real-world practicality sells trucks. When people try to use their trucks on the job site and they don't work, then they don't outsell everyone else for 27 years. Fords work, so they're king. Until they aren't king, then they have the better truck. Let's see Nissan outsell Ford, then we'll talk about who makes the better truck. The majority of the people in the country who have 30,000 and want a truck don't buy on impulse or marketing, they carefully spend their money, and they get the best available. The best available is Ford. Ford has proved it year after year, even outselling every vehicle car OR truck for 17 years.

These discussions become amazing sometimes. Once again, talking about the competition is not a "bad thing". Don't you need to know what is out there to properly evaluate what you drive and what you want to buy? I don't know anyone that is true-anything anymore as there is too much at stake in terms of real dollars now-a-days. IMHO the Dodge trucks are very much improved and worthy of consideration. IMHO the new "Hemi" (and I understand that it is not what we used to consider a hemi) is a rather remarkable remake of an existing design - it rather kicks butt in certain venues. But, I also agree from my research that the "kick" may be a little high in the RPM channel for good towing performance. And, that old truck chassis still has a way to go to be competitive. I suspect it is still cluncky. The same is true for most of the GM products in terms of engine and towing performance. Seems the old push-rod design can only be "pushed" so far. And, then under close observation - the older engine designs require a great deal of more built-in sensors for emissions compatibility.

I have now gone through the GM and Dodge problems. It seems that Ford stands alone in the domestic front trying to hold off the foreign competition. Nissan is obvious - Toyota is apparently right behind them. All it will take for Toyota to be competitive in this light-truck arena is a better engine and it would appear that is coming.

I for one am pulling for Ford and hope they maintain their truck superiority. I for one am also betting on that too. But, I also want to see them stand behind their products and support their customers when they don't get things right. I don't get a good feeling on that front lately.

Not for me. A truck could have all the practicality possible but if it has no power(I'm looking for low-end torque which both ford and nissan have but dodge, chevy, and toyota don't).......no sale.
