Ask Plenty of Questions
I have the old GOLD system (bronze, silver, gold) installed in my 01 Screw. It has the auto start and 125db security system. One issue that was NOT told to me at the time of purchase was the alarm feature WILL NOT shut-off if you enter the truck via the keypad on the drivers door. I hope they fixed it with these new systems you are referring to. The keypad code should be treated the same as a key (i.e. identify the owner). Why have a keypad entry if it doesn't shut the alarm off?

I have the gold installed and my alarm shuts off when using the door keypad. However, if I use the key to open the door the alarm will activate. The book also says that once I start via remote, and press start once more, the lights will flash and the rear window and mirrors defrosters should start. Mine doesn't and I will call later.

This is a little off-topic, but you seem to have looked into the remote stuff pretty good ...
... anyone know where to get a key fob with more buttons, to unlock more than one vehicle? I've got a 2004 s/cab and a 2002 Lightning and it would be nice to just have one key fob in my pocket.
I posted this on its own thread a while ago but got no replies

Seems like the gold system can't walk and chew gum at the same time i.e. mine accepts the key, but not the keypad and your's is just the opposite. I'm going to make my dealer show me all the functioning options before I give them a penny to install the auto start. 45 days and counting ... still no VIN for my 04.
As a side issue ... anyone have any first hand experience with the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 auto start/alarm system? I hear installing any unit other than the Ford approved system will invalidate the warrenty. I wouldn't mind the Ford system if it worked 100% as advertised.

Here is good advice. Ask for the brochure on the gold system. Before you buy ask individual questions depending on what options the truck came with of course.
1) Will you install the gold system with remote start and alarm system and siren?
2) Will the new key fobs start the truck and will it turn on the rear window and side mirror defrosters if I want?
3) Can I disable the alarm with the keypad on the door?
4) Can I disable the alarm and start the truck by using the key only?
5) Will the new key fobs move the memory seats to their respective positions with key fob 1 and key fob 2? (they will with the originals)
6) Can I disable the start and alarm system for valet parking.
Be very precise and don't ask too much in one sentence (sarcasim )
The reason for all this is that I had to go back a couple times because they either didn't hook some features up or made a mistake. At the end, the deal with the seat memory was that it would take another module and would be another $50.
About the warranty - officially they said that you can put an aftermarket system in but if down the road there was a warranty claim and Ford found it to be electrical or electronic and related it to the non For install, I would have problems.
