Electronic Shift-on-the-Fly
Is there any particular reason to get this option? I would appreciate hearing opinions from drivers with and without this feature. Thanks in advance!
I would get it, my 97 F150 had the floor shift, and it is kind of "clunky" going in and out of 4 wheel drive. My 04 has the switch
and you can't hear or feel it shifting, its great. We just had 10"s of snow here and the truck performed flawlessly.

The scenario that I encounter most here in snowy Maine, is as follows: after a storm the roads are clear but, the corners are icy.
The truck is in 2H and I get to the corner and suddenly the rear wheels are spinning. The cars behind me are honking. But flip the truck into 4H just before the corner and voila........problem solved.

Mark

I agree it is handy when driveing arround on mostely clear roads and hitting arias of compact snow and ice it is convenient to just reach over and switch in and out of 4X4 while driveing into and out of icy snowy roads. I prefer to keep it out of 4X4 on the clear roads to reduce any unnessassary stress on the 4X4 drive system.
do they offer 4x4 without ESOF on the 04? i got it, i like it. it makes life very very easy. i would never want the clunky floor shifter 4x4 that my buddies have. it's a pain when you want to shift quick.
