Rebate rule
I was just informed by a Central VA dealer that the F-150 $1000 rebate that is offered until 4 Jauary 2004 is only in effect at delivery time. So, even if I order today, the rebate may not be there when the truck comes in. Is this really true? However, the dealer also stated that rebates are rarely withdrawn. True? What should I expect to happen, really?
The incentives usually specify 'dealer stock' however, rebates apply to 'ordered' so long as deleivery takes place during the rebate period. So, your salesman was straight with you on that part. As far as the rebate extending past the ending date, no one knows until Ford determines how well it's doing.
It's a Catch22, if many people order under the rebate plan, Ford thinks it's doing great on that line and ends the Rebate before they can get the truck built and to the customer.
If few people order under the Rebate, the rebate is continued and you'll probably get your truck faster(within the rebate window) because there are fewer orders.
If the rebate is important to you, you might want to delay until the extension is official or wait until a new rebate period starts.
December 10 is kind of risky for a rebate scheduled to end in early January.
Your salesman doesn't think so but afterall, the man has kids to feed and a factory rebate does not affect him.

From what I understand the Loyalty rebate is 'Invitation' only.
I got a Loyalty rebate card in the mail the other day. I'm not in the market so I tossed it without noticing the expiration date. In 1999 Ford sent a 'loyalty rebate' certificate to a co-worker of mine. He bought another brand, knew I was buying another Ford and I tried to use his, Ford said 'no'.
He got one, I didn't.
Maybe because he was a previous two-time Ford buyer and I was only one deep?
Anyway, you should be able to tell how long you have by the card they sent you and yes the rebates do stack up, College grad gets another 400 (that one never ends) and Military get another 750(that one may be over?).
