Question How comfortable are your seats

Hello Everyone,

I picked up a FX4 super cab 4x4 with sporty leather captain chairs
I have driven this truck only 35 miles but I can not set the seat adjustments so my lower back on the right side is comfortable.

My previous truck was 03 King Ranch Super crew. I found these seats were great.

It appears ford has sacrificed comfort when the seatbelt is put into the seatback and only the seat bottom is adjustable.

Is the captain seat in the super crew the same with the seatbelt in the seatback or is it on the pillar.

any comments would be appreciated
Thanks
Ray

it's on the pillar on them.

I love my supercab cloth seats. They're very nice and durable feeling, rather than mushy and soft... yet they're completely comfortable to me. Being that I'm skinny and tall (6'2, 175) the seat coudl "hug" me slightly more (like my dad's 98 taurus's leather seats... seem to be made just for my rib-width), but I don't understand everyone's complaints...

Do you have any pics of the aftermarket seats? I put seats in my Expy from Classic soft trim. They are great!!! Only problem is after a while.the edges of the seats start to wear from gettting in and out. Keep an eye on that try to hop in rather than slide in.

This is probably my top complaint, which is good, because the truck in all other regards is doing quite well. I just can't seem to get REALLY comfortbale in the seat...I just wish there were more adjustment options than 6 way (or whatever it is).

Yes they are on the pillar in my Screw.

I'm pretty happy with the "captain's chairs" in my Lariat. They're good for a 700 mile day for me, and that's about all they need to be. Frankly, seats are such a personal item, there's really no way to please everyone with a mass-produced seat.

What I hate so far is the rear seats in my Screw. I don't fit back there one bit. I think I'll stay in the driver's seat.

my seats are very comfortable (Lariat leather captain's chairs). i love the lumbar support. it's heaven for my bad lower back. my one complaint is having the seatbelt on the top of the chair back. it comes down over my left shoulder and pushes down at a bad angle on my collar bone. normal driving is all good, but when I drove 6 hours for Thanksgiving it made my shoulder pretty sore. i wish the height of the seatbelt was adjustable.

Sorry don't have pics yet...working on it They were dealer installed though for about $1300 w/ 3/36k warranty. They were made by Catz Skin or something similar I'll check manuf. later. I also have lower and upper back prob like Brewmaster and these seats are like an awnsered prayer

I like my cloth captians chairs in my Fx4. One thing I like is that the seats are more firm than a lot of other vehicles. I used to like soft, but the firmness seems to be in the right places with these seats. The most I've done is about 4 hours at one stretch so far, but I had no problems.

I recall one post where some guy was complaining about the seats cutting off circulation in his legs during a 20 minute test drive. From my experience I thought he was probably a competitor plant trying to sow seeds of FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) in prospective buyers, but I've heard a couple of people complain about the seats now. I guess the design doesn't fit everyone's body style. I'm glad it fits mine. I'm very satisfied.

I have seen dozens of complaints in two different groups, also dozens of posts praising the seats.

I personally find them comfortable, but all the complainers can't be wrong. Ford obviously designed the seats to be suitable for a portion of their customers, to the discomfort of many others.

The designers should have considered a larger baseline of peoples needs. Or at least, made the seat design more flexible.

Even though the seats are really good for me, Ford does need to address their design.

The leather Captains chairs in my Lariat are just OK. Not terrible, not great. They could use a little more bolstering in the thigh support area. Some extra rearward tilt on the seat bottom would help too. I seem to be sitting more upright than in my '01 Lariat. This may be a good thing!

I have a bum back at times and needed to used a lumbar pillow in my previous trucks. The lumbar support in this truck is better, but not quite enough for me. I do use a smaller pillow now.

On a more positive note, the leather on my seats in somewhat more supple than my previous Lariats ('99 + '01). The soft "dimpled" texture is much nicer than the slick, smooth and stiff leather in my previous trucks.

I have my annual major road trip coming up next week. 1070 miles in one day! Pulling a boat!! Alone!!!!
I'll get to know that seat real well.

Can you say coffee??!!

No worries though, I have XM.

Clem, if you should get pulled over, don't admit to that.
I'm pretty sure it's against the law.

Actually Raoul, I've always made it a practice to flee from out-of-state law enforcement. Pulling over significantly lowers your moving average. Also, makes for good TV, especially with a boat in tow.

I saw the film of last years trip.
I gave you good marks for your footwork after the jacknife.
When you were cuffed I was amazed at your ability sob while obviously completely out of breath.

I think it was your failure on the six foot fence that kept you off the Christmas Special.

Yes, but I've been in cardio training for the shortness of breath...

Accident avoidance seminars for the jackknifing......

And, of course, therapy for the sobbing.

You see, proper preparation is the key to any good plan.

I'm still working on a plan for that damn fence.

Thanks for your concern, Raoul.
