My interesting story with Undercover...
My interesting story with Undercover...
So I ordered an Undercover through Versacover and got the call that it was in (had it shipped to local distribution center of Watkins Freight Lines to save $$ on shipping). Drove the 30 miles to go pick it up, and when I signed the Bill of Lading I noted that the box had been damaged. This pissed off the Watkins guy something fierce and he left and locked the door to the center, so there I was, me, my F150, and a 7x7 box weighing 100 pounds. I wrestled the box into the bed of the truck and roped it down the best I could and drove off, only to find the wind blowing it back and forth - so I did what any McGuyver-type F150 owner would have done.... I pulled into an Olive Garden parking lot and installed it myself with my Leatherman. Honestly, that is the only tool you need. The whole install took 20 minutes, and man it looks SHARP!!!! I will post some pics later in the week for everyone.
I then dumped the box in a local Best Buy dump (conveniently ripping off my name on the label) and I was on my way, with the Undercover.
My thoughts on the Undercover..........
(1) Very lightweight, I could handle taking it on and off by myself without dragging it on the ground
(2) Very low profile, with the slightest of crowns to drain the water, but it does not cloud your view like some of the fiberglass shells I have seen
(3) The two locks are not chinsy and appear to hold it down well.
(4) Driving 70 miles with it so far (with no apparant change in my driving) I decided to fill it up to get a quick MPG (I know this is in no way determinative of how it will do, but it is a rough indicator) and calculated it out to be 21.2 MPG, driving mostly around 73-74.
Like I said I will post pics this week!

Scott,
They are well worth it - I was set on getting a soft Ford tonneau and when I saw a posting about this, well I had to have it. I am very glad with it, as it matches my truck perfectly. It really looks factory. One recommendation - do not pay anyone for installation of the cover - it is easy to do it yourself and in so doing you also learn how to take the cover off. I will post some pics soon (maybe tomorrow!)
