Yep, most definitely one of the things I noticed right off the bat.

Its like its at 10:00 instead of 9:00.

Haven't really looked at it too close, but I'm assuming the positioning is due to the tilt wheel?

I figure I'll get used to it, but I keep reaching for it where it was on my old Dodge, and it ain't there.

I noticed this when i first test drove the 04. now that i've had it for a while, it doesn't feel strange any more. what i have noticed is how long it can take before the turn signal switches off after you round a corner. seems like the steering wheel has to come almost back to dead center before the turn signal switches off. this means when you turn a corner and the road does not straighten out right away, your turn signal will stay on for a ways down the road. this is much different then my 97 f150 or any other car i've own. I find myself just switching it off manually more often.

I thought it was awkward as hell at first, but now it feels normal and my wife's car feels weird.

Yeah, it hasn't bothered me. Just different...

Every car has its own little subtle differences. Other things I've noticed:

1) The HVAC controls are sooooo smooth compared to my prior truck. Almost like they are set in precision nylon bearings.

2) At 6'3", I have not been able to feel the limit on legroom with my left foot (this is unheard of).

3) I need to clean the steering wheel leather wrap because it is slicker than hell. Feels like its coated in talcum powder. When I am parking at work, I have recurring thoughts of the wheel slipping out of my hand and me t-boning a concrete pillar.

4) The dealer didn't do a great job of detailing the truck, they got tire dressing all over the rims and after 290 miles the wheels look awful. They also missed a 3 ft wide swath of roof when washing it.

Guess I'll have to take care of items 3 & 4 this afternoon after she gets back from the Rhino liner shop.

The signal lever location / Length was on my Why would they do that list . Or the things I have to get used to LIST might be abetter way of putting it . After 2 weeks of driving the 04 it is getting to be less of a bother everyday . Now if I can get used to the shifter being in the console, and not on the Steering column

It's logical to move it up so when driving with your hands at 10 and 2 it's a minor movement to signal either way not to mention the added leg room when sitting with a bent knee. I for one think it's a good idea and is one of the improvements in the truck. Hell I keep finding new improvements I was unaware of everyday, oh and by the way boys I let loose a little rubber last night while leaving the pizza place for the 1st time. Dry road too WOW my 01 Screw would never do that. I waited till I had a grand on her before I put the pedal down all the way so that's why I hadn't done it yet. Can I say WOW again. WOW

Hey RPT,

Not to get picky but I've read in a few articles that it's now recommended to drive with your hands in the 9 & 3 o'clock positions due to possible airbag deployment in a crash. Something to the effect of arms being forced out to the side vs. up from the 10 & 2 positions. I'm used to the position now but it is somewhat off from any other vehicle I've driven.

As Superdog points out, it does take the wheel returning to near dead-center in order for the signal stalk to auto retract. It's somewhat annoying in the situation he described, but overall it's not too bad.

As Zacky points out, they moved the key location also. Don't like this new style. Would much prefer the old black plastic formed piece you put the key in before. There was NO chance of missing with that. I find myself fumbling all the time with the new design. Never seem to hit it the first time.

Finally, as for lighting them up...awesome. I'm just over 2000 miles and have let 'em loose a few times. It's nice. I couldn't ever do that with my '01 either!
