FX4 or Titan SE
Versitile - schmersitile
Bang for your buck?? There priced too close.
If you want opinions on a Titan go to a Nissan site. As far as asking 2004 F-150 owners and lovers what they think of you buying a Titan, Hey go ahead we'll have one more person to point and laugh at on the streets!
I'm sorry, but this is a subject you lose on this site.
I can lose weight but you'll still have that UGLY truck in your driveway

There is a lot of debate here if the "traction assist" is limited slip inside the differentials, or if it uses the ABS system to detect slip and brake the slipping wheel. Let me just say I had a very bad experiece with an electronic traction control. When trying to climb a snowy hill, the braking of the wheel makes you lose momentum, and any traction gained by spinning your wheels. On my snowy hill, as soon as I turned off the traction control, things got a lot better and I was at the top in no time.

I read an interisting article about the Titan, the engine is built in TN and the Truck is assembled in KY! The design team built it from initial concept to production proto type in CA! So, is it an american made vehicle? Probably more so than the big three that are manufactured/assembled in Mexico and Canada! It was pretty eye opening to me!

Like said before, it comes down to preference. I for one think the Titan looks great....I was kinda iffy at first but it really grew on me. I am a power guy, and from what I've heard the new F-150 is sluggish, while the titan has a 5.6 DOHC 32 valve V8 with a variable intake manifold for low-end torque and high rpm horsepower. If you don't really care about power then I think you would probably like the F-150. Then there is the price factor a nice titan is about 24-25k to get a nice 5.4 F-150 it would probably cost around 27k. I like the new F-150 but lets face it....it probably the slowest full-size truck out there now mainly cause of the weight gains. If Ford would swap out the four speed auto for a five-speed and significantly raise power, the F-150 would dominate all
Will that extra 5 hp and 10 lbs of torque really make that much difference...I think not....I will also say...my F-150 is a lot more responsive than when I purchased it. It now has 7500 miles on it and has great performance...Plus...I have a real spray in bed liner instread of the sorry excuse of a bed liner they put in the Nissan.
Its rated at 5 more hp but It is most likely underrated. Car and Drive tested a crew cab 2WD version and it did 0-60 in 6.8. The 5-speed auto no doubt helps alot to.If you dont like the factory bedline ...dont buy it and buy an aftermarket....probably cost about the same. That pre-production model they kept showing was this ugly *** yellow/tan color....youu should see a titan in black
ok guys i would like to say that i have browsed the site for a while and i own a 97 f150 4.6 4x4 sc and i really like it. i currently have 90,000 and no big problems but does have some problems. i recently went and looked at the new 04 f150 and its awsome i wanted one the first day i saw it. but tonight i had to go to knoxville and while i was in the area i dropped by one of the nissan dealers and guess what they were unloading a new titan. at first in pics i didnt think i would like the new titan but in person i was really impressed. the truck is truly fullsize and looks good. i do agree with some posts on here the interior need some work but its not bad. the f150 does beat it in that department. i knew the sales manaher so he gave me a briefing on the truck. from what i seen tonight ford does have competition. there not going to sell more trucks than ford but its a damn good first effort for nissan. the nissan is making 305hp and 379ft pounds of torque without variable valve timing witch would easily add another 30- 40 horses on that double over head cam engine. the nissan must be seen and drove in person to appreciate it and in my opinion the engine has more noticeable power than the f150. i really like ford and currently have one but i think ford "THE BEST SELLING TRUCK" needs to step it up under no circumstance should a first year truck be competing in any department with "the best selling truck". im not wanting a flame war i know this is a ford site and i own a ford but i have seen and drove the new titan and i agree it needs some work to really compete but damn i thought the truck was badass and i will definately consider it if i buy another truck. and not to mention there beating ford prices by 2-3000 on comparable trucks. i think ford is watching as they should be it will help us consumers since there is more competion. well guys this site is great. thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past
I have driven the Titan and wrote a review on it back in another thread. It is still not the truck the F-150 is. Everyone is concerned about 0 to 60...this is a truck!!!!!....If you want 0 to 60...buy a motor cycle. I have a hard time believing that a 5000 plus lb vehicle will do 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds with 300 HP.
The first thing you may want to look at is Nissans notoriously poor resale value - may not be an issue today, but 3 years from now you may live to regret it.
As for the traction assist - not having researched the Nissan my bet would be that the brakes are computer controlled to apply slight braking to a spinning wheel thus sending a bit more torque to the traction wheel.
(Edit: Sorry Paul, I just re-read your original post and realized you already covered the brake thing...
)
BMW has offered something similar for years, but it didn't help my M3 NOT get up my snowy driveway any better.

C&D review of the titan....performance specs on the last page.
Look...I love my Ford...this is the 4th F-150 I have owned...and even I was almost tempted by the Hemi. After I drove it and compared it to the F-150 it is not as well built of a truck. And....the Hemi is not as quick as you think....
