Question FX4 Advice

I ordered my new FX4 about two wks ago. Bright red w/2 tone (supercab) & 18' whls. I ordered the bright running bds. Will they look OK w/this color combo, or should I opt for black (or none)? Any advice is appreciated.

I just bought a truck like you ordered yesterday.

I have the black nerf bars, I really like the look.

Heres a photo for you to visualize the look:

I don't understand owning a 4x4 with steps on it unless you've lifted it. The F-150 sits low to the ground, and any terrain you're going to need 4x4 on is going to tear up those steps pretty quickly...

Low?

When I exit my truck without using my step bars, I end up sliding off the seat, which will wear them out prematurely. My '99 didn't have them and at 37K miles the leather was wasted. My '01 had them and at 57K the leather was still nice. A lesson learned for me.

These are the bars on my '04.

I agree with Clem. If you do not use the steps getting in and out is a bit of a drop and pulls on the seat edge a lot.

Actually, I'm still getting used to getting in and out. It is WAY different than my '93 Silverado 4x2. That truck was level with my butt and I just sat in it. With my new truck (stock not raised FX4) I have to go UP and in.

I just got my truck mid last week. Noticed today that there is a pull handle on the A piller. Gonna try that getting in tomorrow.

Oh, to the orginal poster. I have the same color combo as your order, cept with the black step bars. Looks awesome to me.

Clem: are those stock bars? They dont look like my stock bars. And I already have a couple dents on the bottom of my step bars, am contemplating taking them off.

Because my wife who is 5'8" needs them to get in and out of my truck. She has short legs.

fordabbits,

They're not stock, but they are Ford. Got'em at the parts dept.
Part #4L3Z16450LAD. They come in 4" + 5" diameter - black or chrome. Mine are 4".

My dealer had an accesssory book with all kinds of stuff in it that's not on the Ford website.
