SnugLid is on
LX Eric- Thanks. The simple answer to your question is Yes, it is easily removed.............with help from a second person. It's not that it's that heavy (under 100 lbs I was told), it's just so big and bulky that doing it alone would be a recipe for disaster. I was told by the guys that installed it that if dropped, they can be easily damaged and may never fit "just right" again.
I had a snuglid on my Ranger. It was a bitch to get off. I can't believe I used to be able to pick it up myself. Now (10 years later) I would probably give myself a hernia. That thing was waaayyy more than 100 lbs. If I get one, I was thinking I could hang a come along winch in my garage and just drive the truck under it whenever I wanted to pull the lid off. Probably could use nylon tie downs to rig up something. Either that or put my wife to work. Only problem with that is I'll hear "I told you this was going to be a pain blah blah blah..."
Wedgewood...extreme thanks for your tonneau photos. It appears to me that Snuglid has solved the problem haunting ARE and perhaps other brands as well, that is, the "bullhorns" at the front corners angling down and making paint contact when open. The hinge system looks very sturdy and engineered like some of the classic auto hood hinges to lift the lid rearward and off the side rails when opened. And, to reiterate, I prefer the flat lid to other tonneaus that have molded contours that exaggerate the heightened rear of the '04. I'll be placing my order this week.
Beautiful truck...enjoy.

Thanks Curmugeon and others that have complimented the newest mod. I'm glad I could help in your decision making process. Like I said, I'll add a couple of pics showing rear views of the cover open and closed as soon as I get them touched up in paint shop to hide my lic. plate. Please be sure to post your pics after you get your Snug.
Bart...go to www.snugtop.com for a dealer location and give your local dealer a call for an answer to your inquiry.
Just called them
I live in NC and they said no dealers east of St. Louis (I think). They can ship via Roadway Freight. Other info was that the reg. Snug Lid is due out early Jan. and is cheaper that the SL, about $750 plus $150 Shipping.
