4.6 vs 5.4
4.6 vs 5.4
I drove the 4.6 and it feel pretty slow compared to my friends 2000 5.3L GMC. I was wondering if it is really worth it to get the 5.4L. All I tow is my motorcycle but I would like to be able to haul a car on a trailer if needed.

I would say go with the 5.4. I have noticed that no matter which one you choose it will feel faster after it is broken in. The 5.4 is a monster though. I get more impressed with it every day.

If your going to maybe tow another vehicle then of course go with the 5.4L. You will find many threads with this information already in the forums or by using the 'search' feature. Good luck!

I would say go with the 5.4 whether you tow or not. The gas mileage is similar to the 4.6 and resale is bound to be much better with the 5.4.
If you want to be able to tow a car trailer, the 5.4 is a must.
Also, the 5.4 is just more fun.

funny u say that cause there was an 03 extended cab lariat on the lot, step side, 5.4, all the goodies, sticker was 31 but they said tey will take 6k off. though about it but I really like the style of the 04, if I was going to get an 03 I would get a GMC sierra 5.3L
I went to the Darkside
I almost hate to admit it, I was in love with the 04 Ford. I drove the 4.6 and I was not impressed. I then drove the 5.4 and it was MUCH better, but the price was way more than I wanted to pay. I then gave in and purchased a new 2004 Sierra. For $22,800 otd I got a 5.3 liter engine, SLE package, extra cab, power everything, tow package, and a locking differential. I was in love with the New Ford. I could not find a Ford Dealer that could come anywhere close to the price I got on my 04 sierra on an 04 Ford.
