Love the truck, love the looks it gets, not a single problem with it:cool:

I don't profess to represent the "consensus", but yesterday I responded to a Ford telephone inquiry with a "10" rating on my XLT Screw. My rating should have realistically been a 9.5 since I complained about brake dust, the roof grooves dumping water on the windshield at every stop, the cowling on the driver's side retaining water, the bed shake (?), the tilt steering wheel control, and possibly, a lack of adequate shock damping over road surface irregularites (so-called bumpy ride), but bottom line...this is one very fine vehicle...a vast improvement over previous models...quiet, technologically refined, and a model for the competition to duplicate.

I agree. My XLT Screw is an incredible machine compared to the competition and my 2002 FX4 Screw.

The tilt steering mechanism is pretty funky; just different enough to require some getting used to; not necessarily bad.

The 3V 5.4L V8 is way quicker and more powerful than the 5.4L V8 available in the 2002 model.

All around better truck. My hat's off to Ford's engineers.

I love my truck. I could care less about the tilt steering, as I set it the day I purchased my truck and have not touched it since. I am starting to experience the incorrect temp reading, but that will be fixed when I take it in for the next oil change.

Love it....

Love my FX4. I've also had some of the same stuff Curmugeon
had, but overall I think it is a great truck. I'm meeting with a Ford Rep next week to go over some minor problems; i.e. rearend shuddering when the truck is cold, and other dealear problems. (Battlefield Ford in Manassas, VA sucks)

But Ford built a great truck. It was worth the wait. My last new truck was an '87 f150 4x4. Sold it with 230,000k miles. Didn't have to replace the clutch until about 220,000 miles. Go Ford !!!!!

I'm not sure how to respond except that I plan to buy her new wheels/tires for X-Mas. My wife? She'll get a nice card.

I LOVE my 04 FX4. I guarantee ive taken mine off road more than anyone so far and it is awsome on the dirt. Theres nothing more to say.
BTW, 3 weeks of ownership and almost 3000 mi! Must slow down

This Truck is the best vehicle I've ever owned! I would agree though that Ford could of put a better grade brake pad on this truck. Here you have all this quality only to find the cheapest brake pads. It's not just the 04 f-150. Alot of Ford have these dusty dirty front wheels. I've had this truck less than a month and I'm thinking of changing the pads just to get rid of the dusting, maybe some ceramics. :rocker:

After many years of Explorers, two years with a '99 Navigator and one year with a Ranger, I finally got a REAL truck. Popped for the Lariat and I absolutely love it. The trim level is comparable to the Nav and it handles so much better, it's amazing. Like others, I have some minor glitches to be fixed on the first trip back for an oil change, but overall the fit and finish are great and performance is superb. I'm going to have this truck for a long, long time.

This is probably the best vehicle I have ever owned. The whole set up is fantastic to include the ride. If you are experiencing a bumpy ride check the air pressure(mine was ten pounds over). Over all it is a huge improvement over my 02.

I love my machine...SCREW, 4x4, Lariat, loaded out except moonroof. No production problems noted yet. Rides like a dream, six coats of Zanio and counting. Still not many two-tones in the Dallas area yet...:beers:

1000 miles and no complaints...

I've been driving my truck quite a bit since I got it, and haven't had any issues. Only two things I'll have a question about; the passenger airbag light above the stereo stayed on for a few minutes the other night then went off; hasn't happened since. My gas gauge seems to have a phantom 1/4 tank in it. Just filled up for the second time since the dealer gave me a tank; that's two full tanks; each time it went to a 1/4 tank, after I parked it and got back in I had a 1/2 tank on the gauge! According to my calcs, the guage is right, just wondering what the float/sensor is up to when it's telling the gauge it has a 1/4 tank when it's really a 1/2.
Other than that, this truck rocks (audiophile) and runs really well. Been to busy to get to the ranch this week, but I'm hoping to get up there next week and wheel it around a bit!

I'm enjoying my truck but I'm dissapointed with the paint job. Got a few blemishes, some orange peel and two nicks dead nuts in the center of the hood, looks like two peices of sand were painted over then were picked off after it dried.

Dunno what a dealer could do with some of it short of sanding down and repainting those areas, the cure sounds worse than the illness.

Haven't spoken to my dealer since I picked her up, I'm still thinking over what to request
