the gap is very minimal, if any. i'll be putting sound deadener behind the speaker and around the mount to minimize the vibration and also get rid of any unseen gaps.

my cross overs were too large to fit in the door handles. i ran new wires through the door boot and wire-tied the cross overs to wiring harnesses in the cab. i disconnected the boot by the cab side to help fish a line through that i used to pull the new speaker wires. although time and patience consuming, it wasn't difficult at all. the passenger side is more difficult due to the fuse panel being right there, but i hooked the wire and pulled it behind the panel (there's about a 2 inch gap between the back of the panel and the wall).

What exactly are you looking for? The grill can be removed from the Front speakers with ease. The door panels do not have to be removed. I believe you can use a tool to pry the Arm Rest apart if you are thinking of dropping the x-over unit in them.

Anyone know how to remove the tweeter from the component system in the front doors?

Does it pop out the front using a pry tool?
Do you have to take the door panel off?

Thanks!

By the way, I purchached 2 sets of the Speaker Wiring Harnesses

They are called Metra TURBOWIRE AUTO STEREO WIRE HARNESS SYSTEM
