Mallen4258 - Carriage Works Billet Grille

The grill I have is a replacement and not a boltover. The installation wasn't as easy as I'd hope. It requires you to remove the entire grill, remove the OEM honeycomb insert, install the billet insert and reinstall the grill. The chrome ring around the grill is the OEM.

NOTE: If you are considering this installation and are also considering a bug deflector, do them both at the same time - it will same you time and less wear/tear since it also requires you to remove the grill.

The bottom matching billet grille bolts over the opening by attaching to the small honeycomb on the OEM inlet, which is only a little on the left and right.

Installed in about 45 total for both pieces.

When you cut the honeycomb grille out, do you see the rough edges or did you finish smooth and paint the lip?(where it's nickel finish)
Thanks

I have the same grill, you don't cut the honeycomb out (there's a grill out there that you have to do this, I think it's a T-Rex). The plastic honeycomb is held to the crome surround with clips, I had a tough time getting those clips loose.

The T-Rex I did see (Stillen, wasn't smoothly cut, you couldn't see the rough edges anyway. If I had that grill I may have taken more time to smooth it out. Overall I'd say the Carraigeworks grill is easier on your heart since there's no cutting

FYI, I got my upper/lower Carraigeworks grill from socalmotorsports off Ebay, a VERY good deal.

Billet Grill

Thanks for the information!! You do NOT have to completely remove the grill assembly to install the Bugflector II. I only had to loosen the 4 grill bracket bolts and the 6 grill screws about 1/4 to 1/2 inch and the bugflector just slid in between. I could see needing an extra pair of hands to hold the grill assembly up in place after installing the Billet grill untill you got the bracket bolts started.

I installed my grill by myself, no problems, didn't need any extra hands. Reason is the 6 top bolts will hold it in place fairly well with no nuts

Perceptron, is your grill a Carriage Works??

Doh, nevermind. I re-read the thread and answered the question myself, lol.

Hey Snake I have black XLT like yours waiting for me at the dealer. How do you think the polish grill inserts will look instead of the black ones.
