Mine was vinyl. I didn't need any equipment, it just pulled right off and didn't leave a residue. Same with the Ford-installed 4x4 stickers on the sides of the truck.

Don't take it back it to the dealer. The process is easy.

1) Never use a razor or exacto blade. Thats a sure way to screw the paint up.

2) As several stated, heat it up with a blow dryer on high/hot. It will peel right off. Lift a corner with your fingernail only.

3) Pick up a can of 3M Adhesive remover at your local auto paint and supply store. Its the ultimate for removing adhesive and won't hurt the paint.

4) Wax the area after you get done.

I would never do it myself. If it gets f'd up I'd be so mad. I say just ask the dealer to take it off the next time you go in for an oil change. Then if they f it up, they'll have to fix it.

I took mine off as soon I got home with it. Just got my fingernail under one corner and slowly lifted up until I could see with a light that it was all comin off. The whole thing came right off with no glue residue.
If you decide to take it to the dealer they'll probably have the shop idiot do it and surelly will screw something up.

I did mine myself using the dryer technique. I would NOT use the exacto because one oops and... you know.

I used the dryer to heat it up and then took my credit card and used it like a putty knife. It took some work and patience but turned out perfectly.

Good luck.

My first truck was a Nissan(don't get me started on the problems that I had with that POS) and I told them I wouldn't buy the vehicle if I found one of there stickers on it. They still put the license plates on it but no stickers. Anyway the dealer I bought my Ford from told me they don't put stickers on there trucks because so many ppl want them taken off. Whenever I see a vehicle with a sticker on it I say to myself I will never go to that dealer.

Exactly.

Its a piece of cake if you follow the procedure I posted above.

I've removed alot of decals during musclecar restorations I've done in the past.

Trust me, a little dealer emblem is a walk in the park compared to the bumble bee stripe on the tail of a '69 Dodge Dart 340 or the decals on an IROC-Z, etc..

I had the same issue. Don't do it yourself. Take it back, tell the dealer to remove it and clean it. Idid . There were no hard feelings. Work with the sales person, not the service department.
