Tan Leather Stearing Wheel

I have been looking at some 04's . I have been thinking it may be about time to start looking hard at an upgrade to the 97 XLT/ Scab. The 04's look nice I have been looking at the Fx4s and Lariats both . The silver and black interior in the FX4 is nice . But I looked at a couple of lariats and they had the tan interior which I think looks really good to !!! But in the real world isn't keeping the tan Steering wheel looking good (clean I mean ) going to take some serious time and effort . Or is there something out there cleaner wise that I don't know about ? My XLT has a tan interior so the door puller is always in need of some cleaning it seems . The steering wheel is black by the way . I ahve been readind post for awhile and just thought you guys would be the people to ask . If this has been coverd before sorry

Regular cleaning, yes. Serious, probably not.

I have tan leather in my 04 Lariat. With 1200 miles I've already lightly cleaned the seats once, after I noticed light discoloration. I know this is bad, but I just grabbed windex, very light mist and cleaned it right up. I have to find the 'right' cleaner for on a regular basis. The key will be to clean it regularly.

My 96 xlt with a leather wrapped steering wheel was only cleaned once in a great while.

To me its worth it, this lighter interior is very pleasant. I just couldn't handle another grey or black interior.

I used to have a tan interior in my '99 Lariat. The tan steering wheel cover did get dirty easily, but I would just clean it with some dilluted Simple Green. Seemed to work pretty well. One thing I did notice is that the steering wheel cover would wear at the seems, allowing a darker color to show through. I have an '04 FX4 with the black leather wheel, so this shouldn't be so much of an issue anymore.

I thought I would have the same problem so I got this at Target for $10

As for cleaning the seats, just the occasional Zaino leather cleaner and it looks like new five minutes later.

I think the main thing is to find the right stuff and then keep it up so it dosn't get real bad . I just thought I might get some really great total new idea . I still might . I'll let the board nows if I get the deal I want on a Lariat . Thanks for the info everyone
