Ride getting more bumpy?
 

I read through the posts on the vibration issue, not sure that's what I have. I haev noticed however, that it seems like my truck "vibrates or shakes" over every single bump in the road. Happens on the highway as well as lower speeds. I am certainly no mechanic or expert, but it almost seems like I have no shocks. I feel everything...

I know it's a truck, but it seemed like when I first got this new one, it rode alot better than this. Has anyone experienced something like this? I have an 04 screw with the 3.73 ls with about 1000 miles on it. I was going to try to bring it back to the dealer this week but I wanted to ask on here first. Thanks!

Might check your tire pressure.

When mounted, I think they put more in than needed sometimes.

I just set mine to 36 psi.

Hi-

My truck acts like that also, and is is most likely due on mine to the Goodyear 18" LT series tires that are going to be replaced this week with the BFG Rugged Trail tires. If yours has the Goodyear AT/S tires, they are 6 ply, and the truck suspension doesn't seem to be tuned to these tires from what I have seen and heard so far. Don't know if that helps you or not-

Thanks Dave. I am not sure which tires I have, but I will go check. I got the truck about a month ago.

I guess if the pressure changed in the tires, that might explain why the ride was better when I first got it. I will check the pressure as well.

Is Ford replacing the tires or are you paying for it yourself?

My FX4 with the Goodyear 18" tires also has a lot of vibration. I've taken it back once and they rebalanced, but I'm calling tomorrow to make arrangements to take it back again. They are also replacing the clutches in the limited slip rear. There is a vibration there, with the vehicle is cold.

Ford is replacing the tires this week at no charge - I noted some issues back when I first bought the truck, and the dealer called the Ford hotline to allow them to OK the tire changeover-Dave

Thanks Dave. I forgot to check earlier today, but I realized that I have 17 inch tires, not the 18. I am going to bring the truck back to the dealer this week, I'll post what happens.

I have the 17" Michelans have had no problem...yet.

I know trucks are not riding like a Mercedes but I am reading more and more about the bumpy ride.
Is it a characteristic of these new trucks.

Truck does seem to ride pretty harsh...compared to how it first felt. Got my tires down to 36 psi seems to have not changed. Anyone else notice the max PSI COLD on the 18" GY's is 50 PSI!!!!!....that pretty high (imo) so 45 from the factory wouldn't be that bad. Kind of woprried about riding tires underinflated....(a la Firestone debacle)...Have also definetly noticed a front end ride difference with the daystar kit as well.

Check your AIR PRESSURE. 45PSI is way to high. 45PSi is set at the factory to set the tire beads. Dealers (Dealer prep) are supposed to lower the pressure from the factory according to the specs on the vehicle certification label for your specific tire!

Check the Federal label on the door or "B" pillar for the correct air pressure.

45 PSI may be too high...however the tires themselves are rated for 50 PSI MAX cold. I would be worried about riding these things too low...for instance what I have them at now 36psi cold. Thats 11 psi low. I believe that the cert sticker on my lariat 4x4 reads 45psi recommended...I'll have to take a look at it again...but I'm 95% sure its 45psi

I have the 18" tires on my FX4, they're not the LT's but my recommended pressure, according to the sticker inside my door, is 35 psi cold. It is the smoothest ride of any vehicle I've owned. No complaints at all.

Do they change the sticker on the B piller depending on which tire is installed? ie, 16", 17", or 18" and P vs LT tires?

I don't think they do.

Fx4, 18 inch wheels, LT good years, Sticker says 40 psi.
