Hi Gang

I just registered today, so thought I'd drop a note & say hello. This seems like a nice group of folks here, and is a great source of information.

This 2004 F150 bug appears to be mighty contagious, even for those of us who have never owned a truck berfore.

I'll probably wait & see if any good end-of-year incentives come out, but I expect by year's end one of those Lariat SCabs will be sitting in my garage.

or more full! i stuffed my Scab in the garage last week and it was like a fat guy in a little coat. i love my truck, but it will have to sleep outside or else probably get damaged by the tight fit in the garage.

Yeah, its time to exercise the old tape measure in my garage. It would be really nice to get the 6.5 ft bed...

Don't forget the width!!

I obsessed on the lenght of the truck (it fits with about 3 spare feet). The early Ford info did not address those BIG mirrors. Wuth the mirrors folded IN I have about an inch clearance on either side.

So my first major mod is to replace two single doors with a double door. This is my only vehicle and it is getting cold (and icy and frosty and snowy) soon.

Couple of thoughts for ya jstevens...

Someone here has posted they are experimenting with the idea of fitting the power folding mirrors from a Navigator on to the F-150. Dunno if they worked it out, but might be worth a search?

Several of the custom F-150s I saw in photos from the SEMA Show were sporting considerally smaller "GT style" mirrors. If they aren't available now, I feel fairly certain you will see them on the market in the near future. Of course, you would have to be willing to give up the functional advantage of larger mirrors with this type of mirror.

I read somewhere that Ford hung those big mirrors on the truck to compensate for the reduced visibility due to the taller bed and blind spots caused by the pillars. I don't know if it worked or not, I've only test driven one so far (still waiting t+ 5 weeks on my order). Hopefully a mirror will come out that is both smaller and still functional (and painted). I'm looking at tearing apart my giant work bench that I just built a few months ago to squeeze my truck in the garage. Either that or my wife's car gets booted outside. No snow and very little rain here, so at least I have the option.
