I'm 6'3" and 220 lbs and am very comfy in my captains chairs.

I had somewhat the same problem, but resolved it by reclining the seatback one notch (I'm sure you've tried that). Now, my left leg can't even reach the firewall, but my right leg seems to be reasonably comfortable.

Incidentally, I guess it's just a marketing ploy, but the option "captain's chairs" is somewhat a misnomer. Ford should list the option choice under the category of "console". The individual driver's/passenger's seat STRUCTURE is identical regardless of whether it's premium cloth, sport cloth, sport leather, or leather trimmed. The difference is what console is installed. For example, the premium cloth driver/passenger seats in an XLT with the 40-20-40 configuration and fold-up console are the same seats structurally as the Lariat's leather trimmed "captain's chairs" with the flow-through console.

While I agree with Curmugeon, I believe this is also a misnomer in the respect that these are not really "Captain's Chairs" by definition but rather Bucket Seats. Captains Chairs should by all accounts have armrests. These don't and are really a bucket seat per say.
