Thinking About Buying A New F150

I currently own a 2001 Camaro Z28 (be gentle I do love my Chevy) and although at first I was thinking of buying an older truck and using it as a daily driver and keeping the Z28, I'm now thinking diferently. I just got married and would love to buy a vehicle I can be driving for the next 7-10 years. The Z28 is just not that vehicle. I live in New England and am tired of those long winters in the Camaro and would like to buy a new truck. I'm not big on Dodge in general regardless of what I think of the Ram and it seems that to purchase a well equipped Silverado I'd have to pay out of my A$$ for it. I also like the 24V 5.4L V8 that Ford offers better than the 5.3L pushrod V8 that Chevy is offering. I really like the styling of the new F150's also so that is the way I'm leaning. My questions to you guys are as folows:

1. What options are a must???
2. Are there any cash back incentives on the horizon?????
3. What the Hell are adjustable pedals??????
4. Have any common problems surfaced with the new F150's with the 5.4L V8's????
5. I'm X-plan eligible do you think I could get a dealer to go below X-plan???
6. If I order a truck how long will it take to be delivered????

Any information from an F150 owner would be helpful.

My advise, see a dealer with the same list, then come back and post. You cannot tell but I am not being rude about this. What I really mean is that they are best experienced in person to fully appreciate. Historically, I am NOT a Ford guy, but this is the best truck out there. At leaste for me.

Get it but!!

I've already driven 2 and seen one similiarly equipped to what I want. I also have 4 x-plan quotes and 2 loans ready to go. This is actually my final piece of homework trying to get some real life advice from people who own the truck. I would like a FX4 super cab F14 4x4 Stlyeside with the following options:

Deluxe mirror package - Is this necessary
Tow Package - Could wait until later
Captain seats with floor shifter - looks really nice
Running boards not polished - appearence
18 inch wheels and tires - appearence
Power adjustable seat - Automatic with the seat upgrade but don't really want it
slding mirror - would be nice but don't need

X-plan 31,017.69

So as you can see I've done my homework and am just trying to get some more advice.

Well then...

I do not consider myself a FORD guy. Actually this is my first. As an **** personality let me add that I research the he(( out of anything big I purchase. For me, this truck represented all the goodness needed for someone who uses his truck and also wants comfort to go with it. Outwardly I love this truck-it just lookd cool. Inwardly this truck hits the mark too and ergonomically it is dead on. Compared the next closest-perhaps the Nissan, I like the Ford looks both inside and out. As for Quality, who can argue the F150 history. I like to say to just take a drive and look for old trucks-you see many more Fords than anything else.

As for options, I limited my choices to FX4 w/ leather or Lariat. Chose Lariat. At 5'5 the pedal adjust was nice so I could sit farther away from the potential Airbag deploy while still having comfort and control. (***Also, my wife is 5'8' and she liked the feature too) In the Lariat I liked some of the computer stuff you get, also liked the dash and trim better. I guess at 35, I see things differently than at 25. The FX4 was hot though. As for cronic probs, I have not seen any that have stuck with me. Sure the occasional "miss" or "done wrong" but hopefully that does not occur on mine. Besides this happens everywhere.

I hope this helps--Good luck.

Deluxe mirror package - Is this necessary NO

Tow Package - Could wait until later Pay now, don't wait

Captain seats with floor shifter - looks really nice no comment
Running boards not polished - appearence NO
18 inch wheels and tires - appearence NO
Power adjustable seat - Automatic with the seat upgrade but don't really want it Get it. Power seat is more important than you realize
slding mirror - would be nice but don't need I don't know what it is so, you don't need it

You didn't ask about LS so I guess it's standard. It better be, don't buy the truck without it.

I say buy the truck,,get all the options you want ,, then get all the options you think you might want ,,and then add a few more. At this price whats a few hundred more bucks..$10 a month..just do it right so you dont regret it later. If nothing else get the tow package. And to answer the question..adjustable pedals...they move up and down to adjust to you, wether you have short or long legs or just like to sit farther back. I didnt get it, but its a pretty cool option.Good Luck

I have a 2004 fx4 supercab and love it. I have been a Chevy fan my whole life, and have to admit if I had a race car, it would be a Chevy. When it comes to trucks, I like the Ford. Traded in my 97 f350 4x4.

LS is limited slip, and with a 4x4, I think its a waste without it. The captains chairs and center console are awesome, and I agree the power seat is the way to go. The power sliding rear window is the way to go if you get the slider, or you will be crawling back there to open or close it all the time. I didn't get the audiophile, but did get the 6 disc changer, and it sounds great anyways. Kind of wish I would have got it now that I hear so many good opinions on it.

Im an offroad guy, and liked the fx4 better than the Lariat. I don't like the chrome on the Lariat, and the rancho shocks will hold me over till I can afford to lift this baby some day. Hope this helps a bit, I know I didn't answer all your questions.

Get the floor shifter, it is awesome. I love the looks of it and the center console storage bin is VERY nice. Other than that, it looks like the options you are looking at are all good

By the way, power sliding rear window is a must. In a scab (and I assume a screw), it is very difficult to reach back there and open it up while driving. I love it, and Ford did a very nice job with it (silent motor, good seal, etc.)

fordabbits...want the sharpest bug shield on the planet for the Shadow Grey color? Go with the EGR 3D Carbon Fiber.

Matter of taste/choice...if you want to make a statement with your bug shield, go with smoke. If you want a match, go with a painted grey. But, if you're looking for that absolutely custom cool look made in heaven for the Shadow Grey, go with the EGR 3D.

Warning: because of the blending 3D silver/black/clear pattern, the shield is almost invisible at 50 feet distance. If you want high visibility e.g. smoke, avoid the EGR.

Sorry...no photos available.
