How Do I Turn Off Thte Reverse Sensing System ( Permanantly) Cut The Wire?

Howdire.

Just got my 10' Lariat and it came (ugghh) with that reverse sensing system... I realize that if you just push the button on the dash, that you will temporarily disable it, but does anyone know how to permanantly disable it? So far we're all stumped over here! Thanks!

I recently read a thread of someone wanting a reverse sensor on his Lariat, maybe you could deal or trade? I dont know, could it be plug and play? This way you'd both win...

I believe that was me. I would be glad to take your reverse sensors...We would swap bumpers and plastic piece in the console that has the switch on it..

I am all for it.

Ahhh, the bartering system is alive and doing well here, you gotta love that!

To be honest with all of you, I thought the Reverse Sensing System was a bit friv and a little on the uppy side of things. I purchased my 04 Scab with every option and soon learned the benefits of the RSS. I can park this beast with ease and know that I'm not gonna be knocking off hood badges (at least not on accident!).

My girlfriend calls the RSS the "ultimate chic option". Even she admits that most girls could really use such benefit from a relatively cheap option.

If the RSS is annoying you, then you probably need it more than you think you do.....

I guess the question that needs to be answered so that everyone understands you is:

What do you do "constantly" that causes the RSS to come on, and ultimately, annoy you?

Do you tow a trailer?

I can relate to Rainfire. The reason I didn't order the RSS was because I found it annoying on a Lincoln Town Car I rented a while back. I think it would be less annoying if you could turn it on when you found you needed it, as opposed to having to turn it off when you don't. I do understand however, why Ford did it this way is to prevent you from forgetting you turned it off and thinking nothing was behind you.

I read in another post that this system was not easily installed/removed, and that Ford did not offer it as an aftermarket add-on because of this.
I would like to put it on my Screw since I have alot of kids in my neighborhood and with the hard shell tonneau it restricts your vision even more.
But from what I understand, an aftermarket (non Ford) system is really the only practical way to go.

I am very interested in putting a reverse sensing system in my truck, as you have probably read from previous threads. Does anyone have recommendations for aftermarket RSS systems that DO NOT require having a camera or a LCD screen? I want something low profile with no camera. Thanks!
