I am having a hard time finding 10'' subs in the brandnames I like with a 5" mounting depth to fit these subboxes on the market.

I sent an email to www.subbox.net about subs to fit their boxes. The company is now posting a list of subs with a 5'' or less mounting depth on their hompage. Some good brandnames.

The problem I see with these boxes is, since they are taking up ALL the room under the seats, first, you will have to move your jack. That may not sound like a big deal, but unless you have a tool box in the bed, there is nowhere to put it. Second, since the box is taking up ALL the room, there is nowhere to put the amp (unless you could jerry it to fit inside the box). Is there a way around that?

I was gonna build an enclosure for a single 10" sub, but this 'downfire' stuff.......how does it sound compared to a normal 'upward fire' orientation?

the amp location is definatly going to be an issue, i just picked up the 5 channel alpine V12 amp and its rather large. tomm i will look at the possibility of mounting it behind the rear seat in an S-Crew. hopefully there is a couple of inches there i can use for moutning the amp, otherwise i have no idea where to put it.

Darkshadow, you might want to consider installing a fan as well if you put the Alpine behind the seat. I have an Alpine in my trunk('02 mustang GT) and even in there it gets pretty hot and cuts out, not a lot but I hate when it does. I also have the US1000 amp and that cuts out a lot more, im using that to drive 2 alpine type R dual voice coil 10"s (I should tell you I dont have any fans) a friend had the same prob and he installed a fan and the problem went away...SDS since bass has no direction, downfiring should be fine, Ive done quite a few systems and tried a lot of different sub boxes and configurations. I think you will be fine...and at this point do we really have a choice?? man where am I gonna put all my equipment in my new Scab FX4??

Keep me posted about the amp location - will be interesting to see where you put it.

I ordered a powered 60 watt sub, nothing much but enough to get the job done (and a bit more) that Audiophile does (I do not have audiophile). Also just replaced the front two speakers in my scab, and even though previous threads have indicated speaker size of 5x7, Ford factory speakers are 6x8s, which is what I replaced them with (4-Way Pioneers, actually). I would highly recommend replacing those speakers. As soon as I figure out how to get the speaker grills off the back doors of my Scab, I will replace the back ones. Anyone know how to do this without breaking them?
