Reverse Sensing

I am about to pull the trigger on a new SuperCrew w/ trailer package. They all seem to come with the Reverse Sensing system. Thoughts on whether this is a worthwhile expense? Or is it just an annoyance? Can it be turned off?

Definately a MUST. Back end of truck is taller than usual and it is very nice to have when backing in garage, or parking spaces.

In fact I remember feeling the same way right after I got a microwave. How did I live without it......

i agree, trying to back these things up can be a challenge if you dont have the reverse sensing system. with the bed being taller its nearly impossible to judge your distance. you wont regret getting it, if you do all you have to do is turn it off.

I like my reverse sensor alot. It's a nice convience back there where it's hard to see what's going on...little kids on bikes is my main reason for getting it, better safe than sorry. Yes it can be turned off, there is a button on the dash that turns it off which is very helpful if you want to back in closer than a foot since the sensor stays at a constant tone when you reach a foot from any object.

Yes, it can be turned off. You can turn it back on by pushing the button again or it will turn itself back on when you go through an ignition cycle.

Yes, it can be turned off and it stays off until you either turn it or you stop and start the engine. By the way it goes off constantly when you have the tailgate down and you back up.

Scott beat me to it.

I agree with the others it is a great thing to have for the convenience and most of all the safety that it provides. Go for it I'm sure that you will find it useful at some point while owning your truck. Good luck.

I wish they would make it as an add on. You would think that it is pre-wired and all you would have to do is add the sensors, dash control and control unit.

Can Be Added On

I've been shopping around for that perfect truck, with just the right options...I’m driving my poor fleet guy nuts. He also recommended the reverse sensing due to the increased bed height. It has been difficult however to find that option with all of the others that I want, and I don’t want to wait the 2 months to order one. He checked with his service department, and said that the reverse sensing can be installed at the dealer for $250, parts & labor. He hasn’t personally seen it installed, but his parts manager claims that it will look OE. I’ll probably be going that route if I can’t find one equipped from the factory.

Let us know if you do the add on and how it looks. I would do mine if I know for sure it looked OE.

I just checked with my dealer and he said they dont offer any kit or anything to add-on the reverse sensor system - how did your dealer say he could do it?

My girlfriend calls the Reverse Sensing system the "Ultimate Chic Option"!!! I have to agree with her on that one...
