I picked mine up at invoice, about $4,300 below MSRP.

That's what I'm saying, if you want a discounted truck, get the 03 model! It's still better than an 03 Chevy IMO. Dealers will always wheel and deal but I haven't seen any dealer incentives offered by FORD for the 04's yet, and I doubt there will be any time soon considering they want to move out the 03's and the Heritage models. Plus I think 04's are selling as soon as they hit the lots. Last I heard the average was 3 weeks or so. Hopefully I'm wrong for those who haven't picked theirs up yet. ;)

I don't really care what the factory is offering, only what the dealership is offering me. Buy at the lowest price, and let the dealership and Ford work it out!!!
I went to a local dealer yesterday, and they had 35 04' F150s, not Heritage but totally new design. They offered me a XLT 4.6L Supercab for $25,000 total including tax, license, registration ($28,000 MSRP). 4.9% APR for 60 months, and $13,000 trade-in for my 2000 F150 XLT Supercab with 52K miles. Pretty good deal I'm thinking? |

If the factory's giving incentives you can negotiate a BETTER deal.. Do you care now? |

Ford had a record selling month of september, but only about 15k of those were the new body 2004 models. Supply through Spetember was pretty low and the advertising blitz has just begun. Overall Ford slaes are doing better this month because the F-150 is drawing people into the showrooms.
I do understand the topic starter's point. Sticker prices are within $1000 for silimarly a equipped GM, Dodge, and Ford. So are invoice prices. Yes, many people are paying right around invoice for their 2004 F-150, but their neighbors are paying $5k less for a GM or Dodge out the door because of incentives. While it may be cool to think you paid $5k under MSRP, some are paying $10k less. Not everyone thinks the latest and greatest is worth an extra $5k. |
I think the “04’s selling like crazy” is highly debatable. I have one Ford dealer with approx. 70 of the new 04’s and another with approx. 30 of them and have yet to see ONE new 04 on the road. I have seen a good amount of new Chevy’s and GM’s on the road.
It may be true that until they deplete their current inventory of 03’s they might not be able to offer much, but once the 03’s are gone they are going to have to offer something serious to sale their 04’s or they will just sit there collecting dust. Let’s face it there are very few “hardcore” brand loyal people out buying vehicles such as trucks so when you put Chevy’s and GM’s new 04 trucks against Fords new 04 and start comparing prices Ford will lose a big share of sales to the others… |
I hear and read about how well the '04 is selling but I don't see very many on the road at all. I'm a contractor in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area and I'm all over town every day. I can count on one hand how many new trucks I've seen. And yes, I still have all my fingers!
The my salesman tells me that he has sold none and has very little traffic on the '04's. This is from a dealership that, for many years, claimed to be the "Worlds Largest Ford Dealer". Those shopping for an '04 shouldn't have trouble getting a deal at invoice (or better). It helps if you qualify for incentives such as: Owner Loyalty $1000 Contractor $ 300-500 AQHA $500 This makes it somewhat more attractive to me. I do hope to see better rates on financing for November, when my truck is due. |
BHibbs,
I do not have an 04 yet, I was all geared up to buy that truck i got posted on my gallery but couldn't sign the paper to get ripped off that badly for a new truck. But after shopping around and talking to different dealers and sales men/women, I found a dealer that will allow a truck to go for invoice plus 750$, "If I was Serious" he said. so thats great, now i gotta figure out what the invoice is on an XCABFX4 in Canada so i don't get ripped off. I Think its about 5000$. But it will have to be an order he said, not one on the lot that could be potentially sold for more. Im just waiting for 0% for 60 months or 4500 off Cash purchase before I order mine. I Live in Newfoundland Canada and I've seen one on the highway since they came out, ONE! and im on the go alot. Maybe after xmas i'll get to order one, just wish i knew for sure so i can order one in advance. hehe |
