Rough idling and poor A/C

Hi All,

Took a loaded 04 Lariet out for a test drive and everything was great, quiet ride, audiophile was wonderful.
Just took my fiancee out for it's second test drive and had a very rough idle (the truck would shake, even my passanger noticed it) that seemed to go away once you start moving. Also the air seemed to blow "warm."

The engine light had come on during the first test drive, but didn't know if that was because we were so low on gas...

I was pretty hot to get this truck, but now with all of that just in a 10 minute test drive, I'm worried there might be more surprises lurking. Could this be a simple fix, or should I be concerned that this one has lemon potential?

My fleet guy has bent over backwards from me and I really wanted to buy this truck from him, but not if I'm going to be stuck with a lemon...

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,
Wes

Did you happen to look at the temp gauge? On mine when its like 90degrees outside and the truck reads it at 67 degrees when I have the AC on full blast it doesnt seem cold at all. Because the truck thinks its cooler than it actually is outside so the AC doesnt have to work as hard.

But when the temp gauge is working right, AC air is cold and working good!

Buy Another Truck

Why take the chance? I'd never buy a truck that is already exhibiting engine problems, minor or not. If your salesman is the fleet manager, he should be able to secure another truck from another dealer.

or he can special order one for you. better to avoid problems from the start than to make a more impulse-like buy. be patient young grasshopper, it will come.

TeckBargins, I "thought" the temp was right, but what you've said makes sense and could be resolved with the temp fix reprogram.

The rough idle is another issue, and it's probably prudent to steer clear of that truck.

Thanks for the advice!!

Yea I know about the re-flash, but my appointment last week got cancelled. I now have to reschedule after the fires subside and the freeways open up to get the computer reflashed, get my spray in liner, the paint touchups, and now a new bumper after that old dude ran a red light and hit my truck!!
