Reverse Sensing System

Does anyone know if the reverse sensing system is available as an accessory or how much it would cost? And why do you need the trailer tow package?

I have an aftermarket hitch and would like to put the reverse sensing system on my FX4.

I am wondering the same thing. Previous threads have indicated that the reverse sensing system is too integrated into the truck to add on, but I would like to hear if anyone has tried to talk to someone about it

I know about some of the aftermarket things you can get, but I like the way the Ford system is integrated into the truck. If I had ordered my truck rather than buy it off the lot, I absolutely would have gotten it included. Just wondering if there are any dealers / people who know whether it is possible to add on.

Trying to keep this thread in view to see if we can elicit any knowledgeable responses.

I bought our 04 Lariat off the dealers lot and it did not have the reverse sensing system.

Neither did my previous 01 King Ranch (Obviously)...but I never even thought about needing one.

However the 04 seems so much higher at the back especially with the ARE tonneau that I really feel the need for something.....let us all know if you come across anything.

This question was asked previously on this Forum and the answer being given was an absolute "No", it can't be done at the dealer.

Note: I am only relaying what I've read on this Forum. Has anyone searched this Forum for more info? I'm sure it is here, because I've read it.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!!!

We just integrated a wireless micro camera to the back of the STX, with a multi-channel receiver and LCD monitor in the cabin.

The multi-channel receiver allows us to switch to the other camera on the back of the trailer if it is attached to the STX.

The camera...

The complete kit...

Where does it install?

via a tow-hitch cover... the camera is embedded inside the cover, locked into place by your standard hitch lock, and powered up via the tow connectors' reverse signal (which only turns on the camera when the reverse lights are on. The camera sees through a small pinhole on the hitch cover.

Everything is wireless, so no wiring is required from the back to the front of the vehicle. The signal is transmitted and received by a receiver (silver box in picture) and fed in to the LCD monitor.

Why install on the hitch cover? simple to answer. when you use the hitch to tow, you do not need a camera in that part of the vehicle at that point. Then the camera is transferred to the rear of the trailer via a mount/box (to achieve the same on the back of the trailer).

Price for the kit? it's custom made by AUTOWERKS (our company) and will retail maybe for about $199 without the LCD monitor.

You can use any indash or external LCD monitor of your choice.

Thanks for the interesting information.

Look forward to seeing the product in place on the vehicle.

Do you have a web site where the product will be displayed/sold that we can log away for future reference.

One last personal question...I return to the States hopefully in time for Thanksgiving and return to the UK early January.
Do you think it will be available during that time frame ?

I already have a working prototype on my STX... just need to make it more appealing cosmetically.

The kits should be ready by November.
