Dual Battery Location Ideas?
There are several reasons to have a secondary battery. In my case, I do a lot of camping and want it as an accessory battery for power in the shell; lighting, audio, tv, blender
Problem is, I took a close look at the new truck at the dealer and I can't see where one could mount a second battery. In my ranger I had a perfect place to put it, behind the passenger side headlight.
For my application I want better than 60mah gell cell or marine type and ideally it would go in the engine compartment. I'm getting a 4x2 Lariat Scab with the 35.7 gal tank.
Any ideas? Relocate the windshield washer reservoir?
Only idea I had so far was several small gell cell batteries (20mah) wired in parallel mounted along the frame on the passenger side just ahead of the rear wheel.
BTW, I'm looking at the Hellroaring Battery Isolator to handle the charging/isolation.

Have you done an installation like that?
I worry they'd get bounced around too much and leak, also that far back I worry about voltage drop, even with huge wire. Would you suggest something like #2 or bigger? I think I'd also try to work in a circuit breaker or two somewhere.
Thanks for your response.
