Picked Up Lariat Screw Last Week...Get This...

Hi guys...I wrote to this forum last week advising I was picking up my Lariat Screw 4X4, Aspen Green two tone with moonroof and the works....and that I would post photos....well, I ran into a slight problem. When I went to pick it up, I looked the truck over to ensure there were no dings, scratches and the like before taking possession. It looked good. When I got it home later, and parked it in the sun, I noticed what looked like buffing marks (unnoticeable w/o direct sunlight) on the front edge of the rear door. When I looked closer at it, I could see that the door was damaged and then repaired, I'm assuming at the factory. I was pissed. The damage was small, but I could notice it. I took it to a Autobody nearby to get a professional opinion and the guy told me that it most likely got dinged at the factory and they did a crummy job "dusting" it. The metallic in the paint doesn't look like the rest of the paint either. Bottomline here...I took it back to the dealer and it's in the shop now getting repaired (hopefully correctly) and painted. I was pissed I didn't notice this before I signed the papers. Lesson learned here guys...check your rigs over good before taking ownership. I thought I did so but I was wrong. It's a shame having a brand new truck being worked on for this type of problem. I hope they do a good job...will keep you posted. I would have liked to be sharing photos with you at this time, but honestly, I was so pissed off about the situation, I didn't sign onto the forum for a week. Will keep you posted.

We still can't wait to see your pics. I'm sure they will be able to fix it correctly.

And here I thought you were out having so much fun that you didn't have time to take pictures. Sorry to hear about the trouble but I'm sure they'll fix it up good.

Unless they do what they did to my Explorer, and mess it up more. When I bought it there was a small ding on the roof above the windshield. They said they had a guy who could push it out from the inside. Well, needless to say, he couldn't. So the body shop got a hold of it.

When I got it home, They put the clearcoat on before the paint was dry. Water marks under the clearcoat. Released it to me before it was dry. I touched it and a finger print got imbedded on the roof. Then I looked farther back and it looked like someone took a palm sander to the rest of the roof.

The did one half-a$$ed job. Almost whole-a$$ed. But I'm sure that was dealer related. Also one of the reasons, I am not purchasing the F-150 from that place.

Thanks for the support guys...problems aside, I love the truck. The dealer is treating me well...free loaner car and he also threw in an extended warranty on the powertrain for my inconvenience. The Aspen Green two tone looks sharp. Other than that, I haven't played with it much to give you my opinions...I only put 40 miles on it before I took it back to them...will keep you posted.

I feel your pain Guigster...and to be honest, if the problem was in a different spot on the truck, I probably wouldn't do anything about it. But it's right next to the drivers door handle and I know I would be glaring at that spot everytime I'd get into the truck. I asked if it could be repaired by a "dent wizard" and it couldn't. It's on the edge of the rear door (seam) and it's double the thickness there. I'm confident they have a good body shop with an experience painter there...we'll see...nothing I can do about it now...

Unfortunately, its the nature of the business. I saw three Scab F150's at a Ford dealer body shop week before last. All three had damaged A-pillars that had been buffed and were ready for repainting. The bad news is less than $750 worth of repairs they aren't required to tell anybody. Isn't that nice to know.

I had a similar problem. The prep guys put a small dent right above the drivers door handle, first thing that I noticed when I walked out to the truck after signing papers. Back at the shop with only 45 miles on it.

They seam to think that the "paintless dent remover people" can take care of it. I don't want to get into them repainting the door which they will never get to match.
