Opinions on Ford's Tonneau Cover Pls

Just wondering what the consensus was on Ford's snap down Tonneau covers. Anyone know who makes them and if they are worth about $270?

I have a Sportmaster snap on Tonneau on my Ranger and really like it. I was going to go a similar route on the F150, but then I started thinking that with so much larger an area to cover the thing might flap around excessively.

Thanks for your opinions and experiences. I'm supposed to pick it up at lunch on the 15th, but may reconsider.

I have not found and aftermarket soft Tonneau cover on the market yet. The second mod will be a bedrug.

I love the cover I have on my stepsides (1997) Mine came from "Covercraft" and uses snapless clips that work pretty good.
Got if from JC Whitney about 5 years ago, but its showing its age now.

I have a 2004 Lariet Screw ordered and I am considering using a "Truxcedo" cover on it because of the neat tool box option and the built in bows. (anyone have one of these ?)

The hard covers are nice, however I normaly find out that I need to haul large items when I am at least 40 miles from home and its nice to have a cover that rolls out of the way completely when that happens.

I had a Ford branded snap down tonneau on my 00 Scab for three years. Left it in place virtually all the time. The sides and rear stayed nice and straight, the stitching stayed like new, and all I ever did was wash it and dried with towels. The rails on the one I had were natural aluminum so I painted them to match the bed rails protectors. There was one small problem that I corrected. The snap on cover I had was made to slip into a channel at the cab and the fit was not smooth especially after the cover had been on for a few weeks. I used 3M weather strip adhesive to glue the cover to the rail at the cab and that problem was eliminated.

I guess since you are picking one up that the dealers now have these for the 04s? Do you have the part number?

Unhappy

For whatever it's worth....
I got talked into the cover while at the dealership and all I can say now that I have had it for a week is WHAT A PIECE OF CR@P!! I am so irritated with it that the dealership is going to give me a refund on it Wednesday.
I should have known better as I had one of these "Ford" covers in the past on a used truck and did not like it.

I had a Downey SST cover on my Lightning in '99 and then transferred it to my '01 flare side. I live here in Michigan and it held up extremely well in the snow so I contacted them on the phone today and they are startig delivery on their covers at the end of this week. Needless to say, I ordered one.

Of course, just my 2 pennys worth

Well, the cover is loose. There is no way to adjust this as moving the rails out would let the bows sag in. As a result, it is now puddling when it rains which in time will loosen the cover even more. The dealership has acknowleged this by offering up a refund, no questions asked......

Did you purchase the cover? If so, do you have the part number?
