Rear Fender Well question???

This may have been answered already, I did a search and could not find it, so bear with me. I just picked up my '04 SCrew Lariat 4X2 and noticed after I left the dealer, that there are no rear fender well liners like on the front. Is this NORMAL??

I don't think there are supposed to be any. If it's what I'm thinking of. I had a little concern about that, but I guess they wouldn't make it that way if it was a problem.

Hey Guys, I wanted to add my 2 cents worth. I had a solid black stepsides back in the 80s (82 model) When I restored the rear flooring, I ended up also replacing the rear fenders. They both had lots of small spider/star web cracks in the black paint from rocks over the years striking the fiberglass directly above and behind the tire tread. No interliners on this model either.
Because of the design of the fenders the sheet metal is closer to the tire than on a regular body. I ended up coating the new ones with a nice thick coat of undercoating. This solved the rock problem.

I looked at a buddys 03 Dodge Screw yesterday, he doesnt have full liners on his rear fenders either. Must be a fad or something.
I think tho, I might look at a little undercoating for insurance in all the right places ? smile

Rear Fender Well liners

I'm not talking about full or partial fender well liners, I'm talking about NO FENDER WELL LINERS (nothing, nada, nein, nyet) on the rear of my 2004 Lariat SCrew 4X2. How about it guys, those of you who have received your trucks!!!

Mine is a flareside and there is what looks like a tire width skirt of a rubber or plastic substance. Can't say on the styleside though.

Stylesides have no inner wheel well on the rear just like the previous body style. The front inner wheel well is pretty skempy as well on all 04s. I am sure a few fog lamps will be busted from the rear in time.

Rear Fender Well question???

Perhaps they're not worried about rust. I was quite suprised when I pried off the bed rail caps on my '02 Flareside to find that apparently the rear fenders are fiberglass with only the interior bedsides metal.

I took matters into my own hands - using Herculiner - check out my mini-mod here:

Looks great, Walter150! That might actually be useful for protecting some other common rust-prone areas too, undercoating and such.
