Shorter Replacement Antenna

Does anyone know if I can put a shorter antenna on my truck? Any of the dealers out there know if I can swap it with another model perhaps? What about an aftermarket antenna? (I know nothing about this.) The antenna appears to be the only thing keeping my truck from being parked in the garage, which I would very much like to do. Thanks.

I have a friend with a shorter aftermarket rubber type on his 2003. It looks good and I as far as I know it works as good.

He picked it up at Pep Boys here in the Bay area. He says there is nothing special about it. The only complaint he has is that it tends to bend over in the wind and takes on a permanent curve to the rear. It can be straightened, but then it bends back.

Well, at least it always looks like his truck is going faster than it really is.

Short Antenna

Why dont you go for a Billet antenna?? There are several around some of the accessory web sites. I think they come in different lengths.

Hmmm. My parking garage at work is a little too short for my antenna as well. I've just been taking it slow and letting it hit. There are only two beams that it hits, so maybe your garage is shorter?

I do find that I duck every time I come up to one of the beams!!! I guess that will go away after I've been driving it longer...

Billet is just a type of aluminum that is shined up like chrome, only it's not chrome, it's aluminum.
Brought to you by the department of redundancy department.

I plan on swapping the antenna with the one I currently have on my Ranger.

Billet is machined aluminum that is polished to a chrome like shine and then hard anodized with a clear finish so that it will not gray out like unfinished aluminum. A billet antenna looks very nice. You can get them in various lengths, they usually required an adapter (billet of course) which screws onto the fender and then the length antenna you want screws into the adapter. Looks a LOT better than the rubber ducky type antennas.
