I have close to 500 miles on my truck and am getting 13.8 MPG according to the message center display (it hit 14.0 a couple times, but not for long). After 300 miles, I started driving it a little harder... punching it on the frwy... just being a little heavier on the gas, when I can. I'd probably say I've had equal amounts of city and hwy driving, which is sometimes the same out here in CA.

I guess my question is: Can I expect the MPG to go up at some point? I don't expect 22 MPG, but I'd like a respectable number... maybe what it says on the sticker 15-19, or so.... and should I see a steady increase during break-in or should it increase afterwards?

I'm hoping to break this truck in correctly so it doesn't become a slug and a guzzler... just curious. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Most engines do not full break in until about 10k miles so it could get better.

Not certain, but there's some chatter about it here. It later turns into an OIL discussion, though.

From what my dealer told me... run it a few hundred miles normally, then beat the crap out of it for 1000->2000 miles.
