Roof rails on the '04

I nearly bought an 04 Lariat in Arizona beige from a dealer in the
Rio Grande Valley last weekend.
However it had a moon roof (Sun roof to us Brits) and they are pretty much a waste of space down here in south Tx as the sun is usually too hot to make use of them...plus you will never see the $800 back when it comes to resale.

Anyway today I've come to Corpus Christi where a dealer has located the one I really want...Toreador red over Arizona.

It has the roof rail system and the storage will be more useful than a moon roof...and cost nothing.

However my vehicle won't be ready until tomorrow and the dealer lent me a zero mile 04 XLT overnight...they seemed to want to keep my 01 KR trade in from the word go.

Anyway the point of this long winded post is that while playing with the overhead bin and rail system this evening it occured to me that it should be quite feasible to get a second bin to slot into the rails for extra or rear seat passenger use.

Anyone else thought of this or even found a price for an extra bin ?!

You can purchase more bins from Ford to fit in the overhead rails.

See the list of aftermarket suppliers at the top of the forum.

BTW, what part of the Rio Grande Valley are you from? Beautiful country. My wife's uncle is president of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX

Mecheng....

Thanks...

When not in the UK we are about 20 miles away from Harlingen and always pass through on our way to and from Port Isabel...often go there shopping also.

Cheers

Thanks for that...very useful pics.

It wasn't until today that we actually picked up our 04 that we got to "play" with the bins and really understand how they work.

I see now that you take out the rear trim piece and lock several units together.

Unfortunately the dealer I bought from couldn't find the bins listed yet.

I will post pictures of my new ride separately with pictures of the ARE tonneau.

Cheers
