Hold on Moonroofs
Hold on Moonroofs
Went to order my truck today with a moonroof, and the dealer says there's a hold on moonroofs, she'd just had a truck go on hold status this morning.
I take it to mean that Ford is having supply problems, or redesigning some component, or changes with the supplier, etc...
No way to know why or how long the hold will last.
Anyway, I was previosly dead set against the "rail" system and so I would get a moonroof, not so much because I wanted a moonroof but I didn't want the rails.
Well, I'm flip-flopping
Reasons are:
1) I just know if I don't get rails, someone's gonna come out with a KILLER aftermarket module that I'm gonna have to have
2) I sat in the truck again, and the rails/modules didn't catch my eye (even though I was testing to see if they would), so they're not as distracting while driving as I thought they'd be. Also they don't seem so obtrusive as they did at first, being in the center no risk of hitting ur head (well, except for center passenger...passengers are one their own
)
3) I didn't like the look of the unused portion of the rails, but from the front seat, I'll never see them. Only passengers see them and as I said, passengers are on their own. Also, I'll bet someone comes out with an aftermarket add on to fill the gap nicely (well, I hope)
4) Moonroof will add some noise and radient solar heat)
5) Possible source of leaks
6) Current hold at ford plants
7) Don't really desire a moonroof
OK, this is probably more than you wanted to know, but maybe someone can use it.
FYI, I ordered a Lariat, 6.5' bed, bright red two-tone, 40/20/40, audiophile, trailer package, reverse sensing, 3.73 LS axle, Bright tube running boards, Power slider, and the 35.7 gallon tank.
Got it at invoice.
Already ordered the Daystar lift and am looking at the Leer 100XL shell. http://www.leer.com/images/newfordxl2.jpg

That's Interesting
I ordered an FX4 with moonroof and checked with my sales guy yesterday. He said the order was "clean". Meaning nothing was suppose to hold up the shcedule for production??
If you have any more news I would be intersested.....
Thanks!!

Wires Crossed???
I called my dealer today and asked him about the hold on the moonroofs. He checked with is manager and said they had NOT heard of any holds on the F150's for moonroofs, but that there was a hold on the new F250's for moonroofs. So, I'd be willing to bet that Stook's dealer got his wires crossed!! Hope so!
