Audiophile ??

Audiophile is listed on my invoice but the subwwoofer is missing. The dealer ordered a subwoofer assembly. My question is about the speakers, previous posts state that there are 9 speakers, I've only counted 6, all in the doors. Are the rest in the subwoofer or elswhere?? And how do I tell if I have upgraded speakers??

Not real sure where the other speakers are located but, I agree, it sounds like you were jipped. All though... mistakes do happen, I'd be willing to bet that you received the standard stock system versus the upgraded... especially considering that you can determine if you have the sub very easily and you don't have it.

Best of luck getting it taken care of!

I've looked at Bigsherm's interior pictures and noticed the subwoofer... I then looked at mine and noticed there was no subwoofer box under the passenger seat. The dealer has ordered that box but my concern is that that I got stock speakers. The CD player and radio/reciever look like other audiophiles and I only counted 6 speakers on Bigsherm's pictures. I guess I'll find out what I get after the dealer puts in the subwoofer box.

I have the audiophile system and think you did get the stock unit and not the one that goes with audiophile.

One way to tell for sure, is to hit the menu button on your headunit and see if you see ambience, all seats, driver seat, rear seats etc.... If you do at least your headunit is for the audiophile system if you don't then you might as well tell them to order the complete system.

Not sure if they can do it, but would think they could.

Another thing to keep in mind is the 300 watt amp which goes with it.

I have listened to stock, and audiophile and you will easily notice the difference.

Hope this helps you

I have the ambience listed in the menu as you stated. I have four speakers up front and two in the rear doors, no subwoofer box and I wouldn't even no where the amp is. The dealer ordered the subwoofer box and the plug for it is under the rear seat. How many speakers should I have and where are they located. I don't think the dealer is sure what the audiophile system looks like and I don't have another one near by to check. The sound lacks bass and is tinny

I will recount if I ever get my truck back from the paint shop (keyed) but I think I had 7 speakers. 2 fronts, 2 tweeters, and 2 rears, and the sub. I hear that the amp is under the plastic cover next to the sub but there is no way for me to tell.

Thanks, your pics tipped me off to my problem. Your interior is exactly like mine except for the box under the back seat.

I think there should be 9 speakers altogether. 8 actual speakers and the subwoofer. I didn't really pay attention to the location(s) and count them, so I don't know exactly where they are. I just know the system rocks ! I'll have to count them in my truck, now.

The subwoofer should be located under the rear seat on the driver's side.

Components of the system from Ford

The 6-disc in-dash player contains:
* Tune/seek/scan
* 6 AM/12FM presets
* Bass/treble/balance/fade
* Dedicated clock and frequency display
* 80-watt, 4-channel amplifier
* 7 speakers
* Speed-compensated volume control
* Mute
* Integral 6-CD player
* CD play/rewind/fast forward/eject
* CD Compression - activates a circuit that reduces the dynamic range of the CD to help overcome road noise. Compression works by reducing the volume of the loudest passages of music and by increasing the volume of the lowest level passages of music
* CD shuffle tracks on one disc (will not shuffle between discs)
* CD repeat/scan/previous/next

The Audiophile additions are:
* Audiophile Equalized Radio - optimized for each cab style. Driver or all-seat EQ selectable
* Digital Signal Processing (DSP) ambiance. This feature gives the feeling of "being there" to your music, creating increased clarity as well as an open and spacious feel to the music
* Subwoofer with 90-watt external amplifier
* Audiophile 2-way speaker system - optimally placed midrange and tweeter in each front door
* Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) - the radio will decode the data stream broadcast by FM stations per the United States RBDS Standard from the National Association of Broadcasters. The radio supports:
- Show program service name
- Show format type
- Seek/scan for traffic program
- Seek/scan for format type
- Traffic announcement
- Emergency alert announcement

WELL I STILL HOPE THAT ADDING THE BLACK BOX UNDER THE SEAT SOLVES MY PROBLEM..

Now that I think of it, the big black box does not most likely only hold the sub but also the amp.

We have a jeep wrangler which I added a sub to and with the factory Jeep kit, it included an amp. Nice, neat and simply plugged it in.

Once you get your sub, plug it in, adjust the menu and ROCK. If you and your salesman dont begin to smile and giggle at each other you may have a problem, but I bet you will be smiling and giggling.

Hope this helps you.

The actual speaker in the sub woofer points down under the box. I was checking it out at the dealer yesterday. You can put your hand between the box and floor and feel the speaker grill. Go in from the front of the box. There is definitely a 8 inch woofer in there.

I now know more than I should about that box. That's one of the first things I look for in interior photos. I'll definately be a little relieved when it's put in.

Where are they coming up with 300 watts? My math shows the 80 watt player, plus the 90 watt sub.
