Reverse sensing system

I don't think it's annoying at all. It's actually a very nice feature, IMO, and you'll definately need it and some point.
There are sensors (4, I believe) on the rear bumber. When you begin to get close to an object (about 5 or 6 feet away), it begins to beep. As you get closer to the object, the beeps become more rapid... when you hear a steady beep, too late... you've hit it. It's heard in the vehicle only and can be turned off by the press of a button on the dash (just above the center console and ash tray). It's only deactivated one press at a time.. meaning, the next time you shift into reverse it becomes active again.
Also, another neat feature... if the radio is on when the beeps begin, the volume will lower until the beeps stop... then volume resumes to the level it was previously set for.

It cannot be added at the dealer as it is intergated into the vehicle systems. The beeping occurs within the vehicle and the radio volume decreases when you backup.
My post from another thread regarding this system.
My wife has the system on her 03 Expedition. Works really good. Actually senses a little to the sides as well. So it starts going off as you back out of the garage. Anyway, system does start beeping about 6 feet from object. The beeping frequency increases the closer you get to the object and becomes a solid beep around 1 foot from the object. Once you get used to the change in tones you can get out of some tighter spots than you would try without it. I think enough of it that I ordered it on my truck.
BTW, it also will help prevent parking lot accidents where you and the person across from you back out at the same time and your looking down the lane to make sure you don't get T-boned.
