Just realized...No door ding protection rails!

Ok, maybe I was aware of this fact, but it didn't really register until I got mine in. But.... as you know, the new trucks have absolutely NO form of protection from someone opening a door into the side of them. Now, I'm scared to park anywhere near another car for fear that the inconsiderate s.o.b. next to me is going to let his door fly into mine and destroy the whole side of my truck! I wonder why these were left out?

They may have determined that due to the side profile of the truck, a body side molding would have to be placed up too high to offer any protection (or too low). I'm sure there will be aftermarket stuff you can use however. IMO that a body side strip will negatively affect the appearance since it would have to be too hefty to be effective. While I would certainly dread someone opening a door into me, I minimize that risk by not parking in lots...park parallel or in end spots in parking lots all the way over to one side if you can. Chances are, if you did have a molding, the contour of the ignoramous's door that swings to hit you would cause it to miss the molding anyway and still ding you. Hey, if it happens, I hear this "paintless" dent removal specialist do great work.

Yep, all that makes sense. You are right, I'll just do what I have to do to minimize the risk and then if it happens...oh well, I tried. Thanks!

A little comfort, if you have running boards installed, they may take a lot of the shots.
