Transmission knocking
Got a call.....it seems that it is not the tranny knocking, but it is coming from the engine....according to the service dept. They do not know the exact cause of the noise...they are running tests and are in contact with Ford's Tech line. I'm wondering if it is actually coming from the converter area.
Maybe this is all coincidence. Needless to say, I am very curious to see what the problem is. Maybe I will get a new truck out of it.....j/k.
Somtimes I don't know if everyone reads all the posts in a thread before adding their .02.
I did not pull the trailer for any length of time in OD....at least when there was alot of shifting involved.

I was told by a tech that works for Ford(step-brother) that a ticking is fairly common in the 5.4 and has been dealt with in the past by Ford putting a sound deadening cover of sorts over the engine like in the Expeditions. I saw one such cover today and it is merely a big plastic square with a thick insulation on the underside. Sits right on top of the intake. Guy came into the service dept. with a new ´04 F150 the other day raising cain about the same thing. They don´t have this sound deadener on the new trucks so he was sort of curious as to what they would do about it. According to him, Ford says there is NOTHING wrong with it making this noise and to drive it and it should lessen with miles. Might be the same problem here.
I wouldn´t and won´t put up with it either when my truck comes in. Let all of us know what happens with this. I will be very interested to find out. Apparently Ford didn´t do a thing for this guy I heard about.
