Radio Aux In
Radio Aux In
The AM/FM w/Single CD in my '04 F-150 has an Aux button that allows you to switch to auxillary inputs according to the owner's manual. Does anyone know if the radio has Aux In RCA jacks on the back? Don't want to tear out the radio to find out, but would really like to add satellite radio without using an FM modulator.
4. Aux: Press to toggle between
FES/DVD and AUX modes. If no
auxiliary sources are available, NO
AUX AUDIO will be displayed.
It sounds like this where you select the DVD when it is installed. That must mean there is another input. It may be somewhere near the rack since that is where the DVD is installed...If you dont have the rack then it must be behind the radio... I haven't got my truck yet but this is interesting..I will check it out when I get my truck...

Please let me know if there is an aux input. I have an IPOD mp3 player and currently play it thru a FM modulator and the quality sucks.
I order my FX4 (playing the waiting game only about a month to go) with the audiophile system and would love to use it to its full potential and not have to carry all of my CD's with me like I used to.

No luck with the iPod using this connection. It's a bit complicated. Alpine has a unit that will allow the iPod to be stored in a glovebox and all the display will appear on the Alpine head unit. It's due out soon but at what cost?!?!
I had the am/fm 6 cd unit swapped out of my truck one week
after purchase because the clock malfunctioned. It was so new at the time ( 192 miles ) that the service manager had the lot
runner just grab another truck out of the yard. i ended up with
the 6 cd player out of a fully loaded Lariet. I watched as they made the swap the new one has an extra jack ( not rca type )
for what i was told is for an extra amp or cd changer etc. for a total of three inputs on the back. The one they took out ( though it was also a 6 cd player )did not have three inputs only two
( also not rca )

The answer to the original question is NO. There is no RCA input jacks on the back of the radio, regardless of which HU you have. I personally have the audiophile unit and have taken it out when I installed my XM radio reciever. I installed the terk commander and it came with its own FM modulator (many guys on this forum have installed the same thing) and it sounds very good. It seems that for now the AUX button is a waste unless you have the factory DVD player. The aftermarket guys have yet to develop an interface that will allow communication with the factory HU because the AUX works via something called a CANBUSS system.
The modulator that came with the Terk commander is very small and there is a ton of space behind the HU to mount this box. I was affraid that it would sound "crappy", but I've been more than satisfied with it since day one. Actually I haven't listened to my CD player but about 10 times since I put the XM in.

ultramax is right. the aux is only utilized by the factory dvd.
they use the new CANBuss protocol for communication.
however, if you order the dvd. it has rca aux input. and a second touch ofth eaux button enables that aux input. that is how I use my sat radio module.
we (supplier of overhead rail system and DVD) are working to release the dvd as an accessory item so trucks built without dvd can get it.
