Bigsherm?

Did you get the 5.4L? If so, can you smoke the tires from a standstill? Just curious.

Yeah, I have the 5.4L with 3.73 limited slip and no I cannot smoke 'em, and believe me I've tried. However, sometimes when its wet and I'm at a greasy intersection, I can't help but break the tires loose. It should only take a little aftermarket stuff to get a tire burner!

Ok thanks. I think I read somewhere that there's a sensor in the tranny that causes the wheels not spin. Maybe They can make a Superchip to override that? Just a thought. Anyways, good luck with the truck.

Smoke-m If You Can

Do you guys who are trying to smoke those tires have limited slip rear end behind that 5.4? That may be the reason they won't spin. And, thats a good thing..

that's what i was thinking. limited SLIP differential is to make sure you get good traction when towing and stuff. you paid good money for the LSD, why go and override it? (i know i know, it's cool to smoke the tries, but i'll do without. the rumbling of the engine that shakes people up their spine as i take off will be enought for me.)

You can't "override" the limited slip rear end. It's mechanical, and is what it is. I have had other vehicles that had limited slip however, and was able to smoke the tires (plural) with them.

But, if there is a traction sensor aboard, then perhaps the computer is easing off the power before wheelspin occurs.

We'll see what K&N and catback exhaust does first. I'm sure there'll be a chip eventually.
