Lariat black interior

My first time posting, but I have been following this forum for a while. Great information!

The 'build your own' section at Ford.com gives you two choices on the Lariat Screw interior, tan or black. I am really interested in the black, but I have yet to see a picture of black interior in the Lariat, nor I have I seen one in any of the six or seven dealer searches I do almost daily. Does anyone know why? Maybe some of the guys who actually build the Screw?

I currently drive a 2001 Screw, white with silver lower accent and medium graphite interior. Those are the colors I would choose again if available, but they're not. I'm hoping the black won't be too "black" with the accompanying trim, etc..

Thanks!

I was actually just thinking the same thing as I saw this post. I intend to get the FX4 because I like the dash and the sport-black captain's chairs a bit better than the Lariat's captain chairs, but at the same time I can save about $3,000 if I get a Lariat, as I do not really "need" the 4x4 and if the black interior means that the dash color goes black as well then I definitely wouldn't mind opting for the Lariat... but yea I would like to see the black interior as well...

black on black is what I want dark tinted windows, 4" or 5" lift with bigger tires... mmmm

Hey Guys..... see you discussing the interior colors. I have a solid Dark Red Screw ordered (Lariat with no build date yet) and I have the tan listed for mine. I use to have a T-Bird and it seems that its black showed more dirt and dust sooner and was a littler hotter in the summer time, but now I am beginning to wonder if the black would be better in some cases. ANYONE HAVE ANY INPUT I would appreciate it. That black with white gauges is pretty cool looking in the books.

Thanks

we had this dicsussion in an another thread but i am too lazy to search for it, so i will recap what i remember. wingn8tive, please add whatever i forget.

i like black for style, but wingn8tive brought up a good point that the black shows its age fast as cracks and creases show up much easier than on tan. and yes, it does get hotter. but the tan interior that i saw on a 2004 lariat this past weekend was damn near white. i don't like that since i think it will get dirty VERY quickly (especially off-roading where dirt gets everywhere from people's shoes and such). of course, you can clean it often, which most new truck owners do anyway. but in the dealer's lariat there was already a blue ball-point pen mark on the back of the driver's captain chair. it was a small mark but very noticable on the exrtremely light tan interior. i recommend seeing with your own eyes this tan interior so you see how light it is. i think i will still end up going for the black for all the reasons stated above and for one personal preference, i think the light tan looks kinda feminine, and I ain't. but that is just my opinion and i understand other people have different taste, so i ain't raggin' on anyone.

The tan leather in my Lariat looks great but I will never be able to keep it clean even though it is not a work truck. The leather and carpet is not tan or beige, it is creme colored like found in a Lincoln. I do not have black interiors in any of our vehicles, just my personal taste for light colored cars/trucks and interiors. Pictures of the new Lariat interior does not do it justice as it looks that nice.

KidTriton, thank you for those pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY someone has posted some high quality pics of the black Lariat interior, and it looks great, if I may say so. Now I know ordering this color was the right move!

Thanks again!!!!

i must say that while the Lariat's black interior does in deed look nice, the Lariat seems to flow better with the tan leather (probably because of the wood dash and cream gagues) and the black on wood doesn't look too great on the doors next to the black... i'll stick with my sportier FX4 becuse I think it still looks better and the sport captain's chairs definitely look better too... they even look more comfortable.

Those pictures just blew away every preconceived notion I had about black w/woodgrain. Wow. It looks so much better than I thought. I think I can live with this.

I built and priced an FX4 SC and a Screw Lariat with the same options and the Lariat came out less. The hell with that. I just upgraded my wants from and XLT Screw to a Lariat Screw. With APlan, I can get a loaded Lariat for about $2500 more than a not so well equipped XLT. I love this spend more save more stuff.

Of course, all can't be great because I can't get a Lariat in silver or dark shadow gray! Damn you Ford for forcing me to buy another black truck!

Thumbs up

O my, those black pictures are very sweet. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THEM. Thats about the nicest factory interior I have ever seen. My wifes Lincoln LS has the tan leather, but the seats I am seeing, in the postings, do seem to have a light cream color and it looks like WHITE door panels/accents ? (The LS is all tan). I have a 2 1/2 year old boy that going to be sharing this trucks back seats, I also do a lot of different things from running a small distribution company to being the communities volunteer fire chief so my vehicle is really used in a lot of ways.

I think am going to call my dealer today and have him change my order to black. I am thinking also that the black leather seating will not "show and hold dust" like black cloth would. Seems like a few wipes of a leather care product would be easier than having to vac them all the time. Thinking of using some of those nice aftermarket mats that trap the dirt to keep it out of that black carpet. It also looks that there is a lot of gray trim (like the console) that grey, and that nice wood look, so its not all black.

Yes and like a lot of folks on here, I do seem to clean my truck a lot. My present 97 Dark Red, Ext cab 4x4 has always been weekly hand washed and wiped down with terry cloth and the interior has been cleaned about that much to. (its the tan cloth) It only has 56 thousand miles on it, got a line of people ready to buy it the day my 04 comes in (Big smile)

I am trying to talk myself into the black, the only other problem I keep hearing is "its so hot in the summer time" but again wouldnt that be a good thing on cool days ? smile !

As nice as the pictures of the black Lariat interior are, trust me when I say (as someone else mentioned) that it does not do it justice. In person, the Lariat interior is simply awesome. I loved the look and feel of nearly everything I touched... you can really see the quality difference.

Tan or Black ?:
I ordered Tan for my truck. I made this choice because I currently have black leather in my '95 mustang and I'm a little tired of it... ready for a change. I live in Californnia and the seats really do get intollerably hot. Plus, I wanted the feel of a little luxury... and when I ordered it, I didn't expect black to look as nice as it does. Either way, whatever your preference and needs, you can't go wrong with either choice.
