Let's talk Financing and where to get best deal

Now that the new F150 is rolling in, I want to start this thread to discuss where are the best financing deals.

My supercrew is due in this week. My wife and I may buy it or we may lease it. But if we do buy I want a better deal than the % being offered @ Ford.

Anyone with information pertaining to % cost and names of banks, credit unions etc, please post.....

Thanks!

freddy

Scott,

I wasn't sure if that is what was being offered for the 2004. I thought I read somewhere where it was more like 6.9.

Did you get 4.9?

Congrats on your truck, it's nice looking!

Eloan has a 60 month rate for 4.49 and eTrade has 60 mos for 4.45.

With eTrade you can also deduct .25% with an auto debit setup.

You might also check www.bankrate.com for other low rates.

I did a search for my area and there are two other even lower but they were both Credit Unions.

Regards,
David

Credit Unions are often the best source for lowest rates. Check out the Pentagon Federal Credit Union for instance...3.9% of 60 months. (http://www.pentagonfcu.org/rates/carloanrates.html) While they are membership-only to specific employers or groups, some credit unions will find ways to get around that and allow "special" memberships...worth the look IMHO.

cool. 4.9 isn't bad......

It may actually work out better for us to lease, geez she will be the prominant driver, and only about 15k a year.

thanks for the reply scott.

This is copied directly from the Ford website:

The Next F-150 Comes with One More Surprise

The Next F-150 is full of surprises and Ford Division is continuing in that vein with a National Incentives Program designed to get you behind the wheel of the pickup truck that the Detroit Free Press calls "The Best Pickup Truck Ever."

2004-Model F-Series LD (Excludes Heritage/SVT and SuperCrew),

Low APR Financing on all 2004 F-150 models:
2.9/3.9/4.9/6.9%

Low Red Carpet Lease Rates on all 2004 F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCab models:
6.25/8.00/9.00%

Low Red Carpet Lease Rates on all 2004 F-150 SuperCrew models:
7.50/9.75/10.00%

Is 4.9% offered on a Supercrew or not? Is 4.9 for 48 months or 60 months? Somebody, please break out the code book and decipher.

I got my loan from PeopleFirst.com a Capital One Company. Currently they are offering the following rates for excellent credit:

12-36 months - 3.99%
37-60 months - 4.49%
61-72 months - 5.19%

You request how much you want and they send you a blank check to take to the dealer (any dealer). Write the check up to the amount you were approved for. If you don't buy throw the check away. Check is good for 45 days.

I just hope my SCREW arrives before the check expires (scheduled the week of 9-15). So they say? Later, NJR

Try Homeboundauto.com... Currently they are doing 3.6% for 60 months, or 4.6% for 72 months.. Nice thing is peoplefirst will match it.. I have done 2 cars through peoplefirst and they have been great..

Funny thing is, I was going to buy my screw on it, but they took too long getting the check. The dealer was able to match the rate through citizens bank...

Take a step back and look at the big picture. Do you plan to keep this truck for a long time? or are you prone to get a new car/truck every few years?

The reason I ask is that, although leasing may be cheaper, it's not always the best decision. You also have to factor in the risk that this is a first year model and inherently is prone to unforseen problems that get fixed later on in future model years.

Also keep in mind the residual of the truck at the end of the lease/payment schedule. This is a huge factor in how much it will cost you. Plus, with the saturated used car market people aren't getting as much as they used to.

Good luck!

I'm showing 3.79 for 60 and 5.49 for 61-72. Does it vary by state?

I'm in Texas BTW.

I get the same 3.79 showing. I also live in Texas. I am going to try and call PeopleFirst today and see if they will match this rate. PeopleFirst also has this same program through Costco but the rate is 4.24.

Capital One Auto Finance changed my rate....

I also did the blank check deal through PEOPLE FIRST (now CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE) with a 4.49% rate. I called and said I was approved for 3.79% through HOMEBOUNDAUTO.COM and CAPITAL ONE lowered it to 3.74% !!.

The key is to say that you have applied and was approved for 3.79%. If you just say that they are offering that rate, they may not beat it.

SWEET !!!
