Has anyone bought or driven a 4.6L yet? If so, how is acceleration? Low end torque? Tell me about it.

 

I just happened to test drive a 4.6L STX SuperCab today (8-30). I was not impressed with its power. It holds its own, but doesn't have much to spare. I had to give it almost all it had when I was merging onto the highway. Personally, my experience today convinced me that when (and if) I order mine, I will go with the 5.4L. I can't say that I've driven one with the 5.4L yet, but I know I need something more than the 4.6L. Of course, this is just my 2 cents...

 

Thank you for your response. That's just the info I was looking for. I too will most likely go with the 5.4L engine. Does anyone know if the 5.4L will be available in a regular cab XLT 2wd? Thanks for the help.

 

Glad to help. According to Ford's website (forddirect.com), the 5.4L is available in the 4x2 XLT regular cab.
