Bought a 2004 today....
Portsmouth Ford in Portsmouth New Hampshire. You won't find it on their web page since, from what I understand, it is illegal to advertise sale prices, or if it is too low not sure why. All I can say is you would have to trust me on it. It was MSRP of 33 – 34K and on sale for 28.5 – 28.7k not sure of the exact numbers.

I will back up the claims of low pricing at Portsmouth Ford. I have done business with its sister dealership at Wiscasset Ford in Maine. Both are high volume low price dealers. Give squat for trades but if you got just cash then they have pretty good prices.

Your right about trades, but then again from what I seen at the Portsmouth dealer they only mark them up like $500. Last I heard about a month ago they average approx 40 – 60 units sold per day.
It is basically a no haggle type atmosphere, they have two decals on the vehicle window, the one from the Ford with all the options and the MSRP and then another with all the discounts and the final price. Some have mark downs of $5,000 but it averages from $2,000 to $3,000 off the MSRP. From the looks of it the final price is sometimes around dealer invoice, or somewhere around $500 - $800 below dealer invoice.
You have to figure if they are moving 40 – 60 units a day (average) they don’t have to screw around with prices…

Any problems it might have will be insignificant and not worth a 3 year wait. So much for their 'dumbness', huh?

LOL... what a joke. People like him are your 'test mules'? Get a clue! First, he didn't overpay. Second, by buying an '04 he's getting a better truck than you will, since Ford will start degrading/decontenting them next year. Third, uh... get real, your 'savings' will be insignificant considering the previous point, and even if you match or better the price he paid for it, he'll have gotten the better deal because of point #2. Finally, the '04 F150 is the best built new vehicle in Ford's history. (best launch ever in terms of quality, period.)

Congrats on the new truck just remember that as all these people argue you will be out driving it around. It is not out of the ordinary for a dealership to let the first arrivals of a new model go cheap. Think about it, the faster they sell them then they can claim that they are selling like hot cakes, not only that but it gets the truck out into population letting it get seen more than if it just sets on a lot with people rubbernecking and seeing the vehicle in action they also see that dealership name on the back of it. The local dealership here immediately took 2500 off their new trucks when they came in. I would never degrade someone because they got a great deal on a purchase its not like you are taking money from me and I have never forced a dealership to accept my price. As for the 04 F-150 being the best built vehicle in Fords history I know its true because Ford said so and they ought to know.
how can you prove and be so certain that the 04 F150's are the best built vehicle in Fords history considering they are totally unproven in the real world simply because they are brand new! I hope they are the best, but in Late Aug 2003 how can you prove your statement?

I Agree - While everyone wants to be the first with something new - (like the supercrew how quickly it was copied)
Ford 's all new 97's had quite a few problems there first year or two, so we'll see..... And I would hate to buy a 04 when you know full well ford is going to up the horsepower in the 05. just like the (old) 5.4
